Question about 1992 BMW 3 Series

1 Answer

All warning lights flash at once (without any mechanical problem)

I drive a '94 BMW 325i. Mechanically the car is fine, but when I'm driving all of my warning lights and instruments will light up/max out, then die for a few seconds before coming back on.

Any ideas what this could be?

Why signal light wont turn off in 94 325i BMW

Do you mean it won't automatically switch off after you turn, or do you mean it stays on, either flashing or just permanently on?

If it's the 1st one "doesn't automatically switch off after turning" it sounds like your turn signal stalk is broken & needs replacing.

If it's a case of the light just continuing to flash or stay on well then it could still be your signal stalk or the relay which times the lights to flash on & off.

All these bits can be purchased for little money on eBay

I have a 2006 BMW 325i, it was overheating so I checked symptoms and figured it could be the water pump. I told the mechanic to replace it but they called BMW and were instructed to replace the thermostat...

Hard to say with out being able to diagnose it in person. BUT! I have seen on few occasions the impeller either disintegrate or come off the water pump shaft. I would also make sure that the coolant is full. sometimes an air pocket will cause the cooling system to "air lock" not allowing coolant to flow properly if not refilled properly.

WHAT DOES EML LIGHT MEAN ON THE DASH OF MY 2003 BMW 325I?

The "EML" warning light in a BMW indicates a problem with the "drive by wire" throttle control system."

"EML" is an acronym for "Elektronische Motorleistungsregelung". Loosely translated from the original German for the BMW owner means Electrionic Engine Power Control.

"EML" is BMW's system name for electronic throttle management. The "EML" system, in it's most basic sense consists of an accelerator pedal (with an electronic position sensor), a computer module (usu. integrated with the main engine computer), and an EDK (Elektronische Drosselklappe or Electronic throttle valve). The EDK is also known as a "drive by wire" throttle. "EDK" throttles use a computer controlled stepper motor rather than a purely mechanical linkage (usu. metal cable attached directly to the accelerator pedal) to control the opening and closing of the throttle plate.

"Drive by wire" throttles are very common on modern vehicles starting in the late nineties up through the present day. "Drive by wire" technology enables very precise throttle control to improve drivability and vehicle emissions, as well as many convenience features like electronic cruise control, traction control & stability control.

BMW first implemented "drive by wire" in very limited quantities on the most expensive & sophistocated BMW models starting in 1988.

The latest generation of advanced vehicle features to take advandage of "drive by wire" technology are radar guided cruise control, accident avoidance control, autonomous-driving, and autonomous-parking systems.

My 94 bmw 325I transmission is slipping and not shifting properly. How can I check the fluid level and add fluid if needed? Thanks Vince M

on the drivers side of the transmission under the car is a plug similar to a rear end in the older rear wheel drive cars bmw has
a lifetime tranny fluid setup so take out the plug and fluid should drip out its right behind the shifter cable if it dosent drip out youll need a pump to put it in you can get these at advance auto
