Question about 1994 Cadillac DeVille

Need to replace 1994 Cadillac Sedan Deville Trunk emblem

I got a new trunk emblem because the old one that has sliding cover that hides the key lock cylinder broke off (cover) so I have this new cover and can not figure how to get the trunk lock cylinder that has the cable running to it for remote release free from cover and free from trunk
Is there a DIY proceedure for this, I think I need to remove the plastic casing that hugs the back of the key lock cylinder but do not want to break it off, is there a way this snaps off or is there a turn and twist or are there hidden clips. its kinda tight in that inside trunk area and thought this would be an easy job once removing the U clip that holds the key lock cylinder in place against the trunk inside.

Please help
Thanks, James

C17hydro, thanks, I will give it a shot this weekend. I just looks like that plastic cover on the backside of the trunk cylinder looks impossible to "pop" off with out breaking it. Pulling on the Cable that goes into it also may break or be damaged.

I think I will definitly take some pictures for futhur comment incase anyone else can benifit from this DIY proceedure.

Yep...you are gonna have to do this all from the trunk and yes remove the plastic cover.....you may be able to use needle nose to grab and pull on the cable to pop it open.

I need a fuse diagram for a 85 Cadillac Sedan Deville so i can find the fuse for the trunk button. or you can tell me a way to get into the trunk with out keys. i have locked my keys in the trunk and have...

If that were me, I would remove the switch from the glove box, get a long wire, hook it to a power source and tap the side that goes to the trunk lock solenoid, take the power wire from your power source and just tap ends til you hear the trunk lock solenoid open. That should do it. Let me know if you need anything else.

How to close the trunk of a Cadillac Deville 1994

I'm sure you have cked the fuses so take a look at the motor assembly at the trunk latch to see if you can dis connect it. Better yet, first tap the motor a few times and make sure it is tightly mounted. Loosen it and retighten the bolts holding it. Sometimes that will relieve and bind the mechanism may be in. Keep your fingrts clear of any mechanism. You shoul be able to hear any movement. good luck.
