Wipers stop mid windshield in off position

After this past weeks snowstorm and cleaning the ice off my windshield, my wipers stop midway in the off position. This happened several yaers ago after a simalar situation, but corrected it's self after a few days. However, that is not the case this time. Sooo. I keep the wipers set at a very slow intermittent for now...LOL.I have had the whole "Wiper, light, turn signal Unit" replaced since the last similar incident.

The exact same thing happened to me last winter. There's a metal plate in the wiper assembly that you may have bent when clearing ice from the windshield. (I didn't think I was that strong, or that rough on my wiper are, but my dealer said it was very common in 2002 models.)

2001 Subaru Outback- my wipers stopped working in the middle of a snowstorm.

You will need to inspect the wiper transmission (this is the part the electric motor turns that swipes the wipers across the window) under the cowl in front of the windshield, it has most likely broken or come loose from link rod or the motor shaft connection came loose.

Why is my windshield wipers running in the off position, it's like they are running in the intermittent position, but it's in the off position.

When the windshield wiper / washer switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the wiper motor module will continue to operate the wiper motor until the wipers reach the park position. If the ignition is turned off while the wipers are in mid-cycle, the wipers will stop immediately where they are. The wipers will park the next time the ignition is cycled to the ON position.

2007 Pontiac g6 wipers stay in upright position

Hey Derek , here is how the wipers park position is suppose to work !
Windshield wiper motor park operation is controlled by the body control module (BCM) using an input from the park switch within the wiper motor assembly. The BCM monitors the windshield wiper motor park switch circuit to determine if the windshield wiper blades are at the bottom of the glass. The circuit will be pulled to ground by the wiper motor park switch while the windshield wiper motor is operating. When the wiper switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the BCM will continue to operate the motor until the wipers reach the park position. If the ignition is turned OFF while the wipers are in mid-cycle, the wipers will stop immediately where they are. The BCM will park the wipers the next time the ignition is turned ON.
The wipers will not park when they are commanded ON and OFF with a scan tool. The BCM will park the wipers the next time the wiper switch is turned ON and OFF.
The BCM provides stall protection for the wiper motor by monitoring the park switch. If the park switch does not transition for 3 seconds while the wipers are operating, the BCM will assume that the wiper motor is stalled, and will de-energize the wiper relay until the wiper switch is cycled OFF and ON again.
Check for a voltage signal on the yellow wire at the wiper motor assembly , this is signal to the BCM ! If there is no signal you need to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly ? If there is a signal need to have Tech 2 scan tool hooked up to see if The BCM is the problem ! Relay #39 an #40 are the high an low wiper relays in the under hood fuse block ! Do you have a volt meter ,do you know how to do electrical testing ?

2001 toyota camry, wipers do not return to itsrest position, they go to center of windshield.

Did you change the motor before or after the storm?
The limit switch is inside the motor, it could be the switch or some plastic gear, hard to tell. If you can take it apart and probably you will see the problem.
Good Luck

2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT, problem is the Windshield Wiper operation is malfunctioning, in the Delay mode, and in the off position, Windshield Wiper arms/blades stop at the half point on the Windshield glas

The park position is controlled inside the motor/actuator assembly. Not sure if it can be repaired. See if it is assembled with screws versus rivets. A new assembly is less than $100.

Wipers stop in middle of windshield when turned off - Century 2002 tried nothing thus far

The control board on the wiper motor has ametal "stop" that got bent.
This usually happens when the wipers are stuck ( frozen from ice?) and turned on.
This can be readjusted bu bending back to original position or replacing the control board
About $35 for part

The wipers keep icing up while driving. We had to stop several times to clean the ice off the wipers.

The only thing that might help some with that is to keep your defrost vents on high to keep the windshield warm. There is not much else you can do to stop the wipers from freezing up in inclement winter weather.
