Question about 1990 Ford F150

2 Answers

90 F-150 4x4 302, installed cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, and throttle body spacer. Idles @ 2500 to 3000. I took off the spacer back to stock, no fix. I have sprayed ether every where. checked vaccum lines, and about to scream. Now I get to replace brakes, rotors, bearings and seals due to holding this beast back. Can anyone give some advise...Thanks Charlie

Unplug the idle air control valve and see if this returns idle to normal. If it does then concern is either the valve is stuck(sometimes you can just tap it with a hammer and un-stick it) or the computer is commanding it for some reason. If the latter is the case you may be able to correct it by doing a keep alive memory reset, unhook battery for about 30 minutes. If unplugging it does not cure it then you have a bad vacuum leak or a stuck throttle or linkage.

How do you adjust idle on toyota 3.4 v6

If the vehicle is fuel injected, its not adjustable, and is computer managed.

If the vehicle is equipped with carb, then adjust the screw on the throttle body, until it runs right.

I just bought an 07' chevy avalanche, and a throttle body spacer. i do not deal with car instalations to often. where do i locate what to start to remove for this instalation?

You'll start with the air intake housing. Then you'll see the throttle body pointing straight at you.Its in the middle of the motor on the top closest to the top fan shroud.Next all you really have to do is un hook the two sensors wires on the right side of the throttle body and undo the throttle linkage on the left side. The hoses underneath can be left on.Pull it forward and let it hang down out of the way and then remove the studs that held it on.No just repeat steps backwards only installing the spacer and gaskets and throttle body and the new bolt.Careful not to over tighten.Good luck and hope to have help you.Anymore questions i will gladly help..

2002 sierra 5.3l just bought a trottle body spacer

If you still have the receipt to throttle body spacer, bring it back. The spacer does not do much for the 5.3 since the fuel injectors are not in the throttle body, but it in the intake manifold just before the intake ports to the cylinder heads. Here is a link that should help you gain as much HP for your 5.3 with easy mods and most of them are free to do. Good luck and keep me posted if you have any more questions to performance your looking for friend. http://www.sshotrods.com

PVC simply recycles the blow by gases. You have either blown a fuse, or your fuel pump is not delivering gas to the motor.

1997 chevy want alot of horsepower and speed

Just a note, if this is an unaltered system, it should contain a sequential fuel injection system, which does not use a conventional throttle body. It uses a spider system instead, which is much different than the pre 1996 models.

Engine revving itself.

some times when you put performance parts you have to adjust the gas flow to the engine and check you IDLE CONTROL VALVE that would cause reving on your car and your friends car also
