You can check the fuel reset switch which should be located either in the truck on one of the side panels,or behind the kick panel inside the vehicle on the passenger side, if it was a big enough pot hole it may have tripped this switch. Hope this helps.

Hi l've checked the fuel switch as u advice but still my car is not starting l also checked the fuel system plz help me 2005 ford bantam rocam engine l hit the pot hole then car just cut off and

Try spraying a shot of wd40 into a couple of the spark plug holes, reinstall plugs and wires and try again. The wd40 will allow the vehicle to start if there is spark. Check your coil pack connections.
Was anything torn off when you hit the pot hole?

Can you check if there is spark since you verified fuel ? please let me know. A car needs fuel (wd40) and spark to run.

I hit a pot hole, car started acting funny. I turned it off now it wont start. 2006 ford taurus.

Hello there and welcome to fixya
If this vehical has a fuel cut off switch whick most modern day vehicals have it may have been set off by the shock of the pot hole so i would first check your users manual to see if you have one and if so check on how to reset it if this checks out ok then check the all of the fuses to ensure that you didnt blow a fuse this is very common ok then check all of the wiring going from the battery to the started to see if any of them are loose and the ground from the battery ok.
Please keep me posted on how this is going so i can continue to help
Best regards Mike

I hit a pot hole in the road with my 95 ford econoline conversion line and it suddenly suddenly died. No fuel getting to the engine it seems. Any ideas?

Hello, There is a part on the passengers side kick panel which cuts out the fuel pump in an accident. It is called an Inertia switch. You should have a button to press to reset it. It may be close to the heater at the low point or just above the plastic side panel of the lower dash.

Hit a pot hole - car lost fuel power still will try to turn over but no ignition 1998 Ford Mustang

If you hit the pothole hard enough, your fuel cut-off may have actuated. Locate the cut off, (some of them are around the steering post towards the firewall) and push to reset.

1996 ford escort died when i was driving right after i went over a small pot hole and will not start. It was low on gas..could iy be the fuel filter

Ford vehicles are equipped with a fuel pump cut off switch that will shut power to the fuel pump in the event of a collision. By hitting the pothole, there was probably enough "force" making the switch mistakenly shut off the fuel pump. The switch should be located in the trunk either on the left or right side. Locate the switch and press the reset button. If it clicks when pressed, then the switch was activated. Try starting the car. If it starts, then that was the problem. I own a 1997 Ford Escort and the same thing happened to me...the pothole caused enough "force" thereby the switch took it as an impact. I hope this helps you out.

Behind the wheel on each axle is a sensor that operates the abs and or esp. Have the switch checked out by a qualified mechanic and replace if necessary.

On my 1999 ford escort zx2 coupe is the emergency feul switch in the same spot as the four door. i hit a really bad pot hole due to the weather. and my car slowly died like the alternator was going out,...

yea it sounds like the fuel cutoff inertia switch got tripped. it should be either in the trunk, or in the passenger side kick panel, on the right side, below the glove box. there should be a hole you can stick your finger in and push down on the button. you'll hear it click when it resets. there should also be a little fuel pump symbol like on your fuel gauge. and as always, check with the owner's manual.

The car shut off after hitting a large pot hole

Could be the Fuel pump switch that shuts off when an "Accident" happens and need to be reset manualy. where it is on that model IDK but good luck. A friend that had a ford had this happen to him.
