Question about 2002 Chevrolet Impala
Does this job require removal of the gas tank or is there an access panel in the trunk? I looked back there and I do see some sort of removable panel.
My 2002 Impala has the panel in the trunk. I took the panel off and the fuel pump is accessible. I will probably attempt to replace the fuel pump myself since the fuel gauge does not work anymore and the dealership indicated that the problem was the fuel level float connected to the fuel pump.
Does anyone know if there is anything special I need to do prior to replacing the fuel pump, such as draining the fuel, etc...? I was planning to at least run the car until I was near empty.
FYI, here is a link to a set of videos about replacing fuel pumps. It's a set of 13 short video clips. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-repair-or-replace-a-fuel-pump-226058/

Check the panel first, if no fuel pump below then you have to remove the tank.
