How many miles on the plugs and wires? Misfire can be caused by either plugs or wires, after that check the injector for that cylinder. Let me know what u find. Curt

I don't know if platinum plugs are used or available for Kia, you will have to check a parts store. W/ 79k miles, I'd change the plugs and wires if u think they are original. It may correct the misfire problem, and w/ that many miles on them, they are due to be changed soon anyway. I only had 25k on new platinum plugs (replaced @ 100k as manufacturer suggests for my model, year Chrysler) and wires when my misfire problem started, so I didn't bother changing them again, changed 2 injectors and problem solved. Cylinder #1 continues to Misfire

What DTC code(s) are you getting?
You performed a compression test on cylinder #1; did you test cylinder #2?
Compare the readings, if there is a significant difference in compression readings between the two, you may have a bad head gasket, a bad valve, etc.
The bottom line, the problem is internal to the engine.

Replacement Spark Plugs Continually Misfiring for Cyl. #1

Locate the ignition coils - they are mounted on the ignition module. Remove the wide connector that goes to the module. You will have to unscrew it first. Spray some WD40 on the connector pins and try to scrub them with a tip of a small screwdriver. Be delicate not to brake or bend anything. Reconnect the connector. Start the engine and see if it still misses.
If it still does, try to touch/move each of the wires that go to the ignition module. BE VERY CAREFUL not to touch any of the moving parts of the engine as you have to do it with engine running.

If it still misses, do the following.
1. Engine off
2. Mark the ignition wires so that you reconnect them later in the same order
3. Locate the coil which gives spark for cyl 1
4. Switch locations of this coil with any of the two remaining coils
5. Reconnect the wires
6. Start the engine

If it now misses on another cylinder, you will have to buy a new coil.

Check engine light came on last week. They said it was the heated oxygen sensor. I had it replaced and today the light is on again. The code at Auto Zone is P2096 and P0300. It says P0300/P0301/P0302...

Yes a misfire could cause a false 02 code. As far as why it's misfiring could be a plug and wire issue but hard to say without looking at it
