2000 Saturn SL1 started stalling after rear brakes replaced.
Hi! I have a 2000 Saturn SL-1 with 94,000 miles on it. Three weeks ago I got it's 90K service done. The car has been running beautifully. Then today, I got the rear brakes done. I left my Saturn guy and my car stalled three times on the way home. It seems to happen when I slow to a stop. The car just dies. It starts right back up with no problem. I will take my car back to my Saturn guy tomorrow (hopefully it makes it the five miles). Any idea what this could be? Was it caused by the brake replacement?

take the wheel and drum off the back and check that the shoes are not worn out on the edges..what happens is the end wears off first but as pressure is applied the shoe moves to where there is some pad left..severe brake dust can do it too. get the brakes checked as soon as you can.to clean and adjust the rear brakes is not that expensive.
try disconnecting the negative batt wire let sit for 3 mins.reconnect batt should reset the comp.if not pull the pcm fuse from the inside batt box.and i would think that they would be nice enough to hook it 2 the comp and erase the code for u.but if ur light is on go 2 auto zone or advanced auto and have them hook it up 2 there comp and see if they could erase it for u.dont worry if your lights on they do it for free.if the above doesnt work have them check your alt.thers not many more things it could be put your wires.so check your wires .start the car and discont the negative wire from batt while running and if the car stalls its your alt.also make sure all ur wire terminals to and from batt to al are clean
try getting a new fly wheel installed in your car because it soulds like you have a few ground down spots on it. my buddies saturn had this problem with the starter and he had to change the flywheel and it has worked ever since and that was 2 years ago.
You can't afford to not take it to a Saturn dealer. Look at all the worry your going through not to mention possibly lost time from your job. I had the same problems with my 98 SL1. First time it went to the Saturn dealer they diagnosed a bad coolent tempurature sensor. The car was fine for about 2 months then it would start and then stall bfore I could get out of the driveway. This time the dealer diagnosed a bad crank position sensor. That was 3 years ago and the car has run well since. I believe your car could have one of these problems (maybe both). Take it to the dealer. They probably see Saturns with these problems every week and will know how to fix them.
