When the abs light comes on your anti-lock brakes will not work. the car is still safe to drive. you may have a bad wheel sensor. the tcl light is traction control. Advance auto or autozone can scan your car for free if they have the right tool. good luck

My tcl/anti lock brake lights came on, and won't go off.

you probably have a code in the abs module that needs to be checked out and repaired. it could be a broken wire or bad sensor on the car. the tcl uses the abs module system to indicate any problems.

My tcl off light has come on along with my engine light and the engine has a missfire when on boost?legnum vr4

The "TCL" light has to do with Traction Control (part of the ABS system) the TCL light and the Engine light could be on for the same issue or there are two different problems going on. There is no way to tell unless you own a "Code Reader". This tool will have to be able to view both engine and ABS codes. There are several different Scan-Tools on the market. Mine is from Snap-on tools (Modis). But unless you run a repair shop, this isn't practical. Take your time and look around. Beware of buying a used unit. You may decide that it would be cheaper to just have a shop diagnose it. I'm not sure who you have for local part stores but you could call a few and see if they offer free engine code reading. Their tool isn't as advanced but if their tool will access engine and ABS codes. then they can give you a list of codes that were stored inside the ECU. It would be best that while you have the codes read. That both lights are on. Sometimes the light has to be on in order for the codes to be read. You can then write back with the list of codes. And I can give you a answers to what they mean, possible causes, and parts to check. I hope that helps, good luck.

On start up my Galant VR4 1997 has faulty breaking driving forward, once we go over 60kph the tcl and abs lights will shine and allow us to use the brakes

your abs sensor isn't working. one of or both of the front wheel bearings(hub) is worn. if you want pull out the abs fuse and your brakes will work fine but you wont have abs. eventually you will need to change the front hubs

2007 Mitsubishi Galant TCL Off light and service engine soon light

TCL is controlled by ABS system, could have an abs sensor going bad. There is alot of things that could cause a misfire, mass air flow sensor could be dirty or need replaced.Best bet is to take to someone with computer that can read what all sensors are doing in vehicle.

Abs and tcl lights stay on

Hi there:With the light staying off until you begin moving, this is indicating a wheel speed sensor fault. Essentially, everything looks good until it starts seeing wheel motion, and likely 3 are working and one is either skipping out or reading dead zero. This triggers the light as it is outside the normal range of skid failure and the system determines there is a problem beyond a mere traction issue.
The bad news (well, for most people) is that you are going to need to take this to a dealer for proper diagnosis and repair. The basic ABS system can be serviced at some upper tier independent shops, however the TCL system is rather special, and not many aftermarket scan tools will read it properly (some will scan it but give bogus or vague results).
The good news here is that your TCL system is still covered under the factory warranty. The speed sensors are most likely where we are going to find a problem based on your description of when it comes on, and these are covered under the five year 60,000 mile warranty.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.
Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Abs light and (tcl off) light keep coming up when driving my friend is a auto sparky and plugged his diagnostic computer in and it came up with abs fault code 36 what does this mean and how can i fix it....

Sensor circuit high in other word it is disconnected or is internally disconected check each and all ABS and see if they are plug on now once the light come on it turns off the traction control or (TLC) you might also have ABS sensor contamination. You ever get a magnet and run it in the dirt and get all that hairy iron well that is just what happened to you
abs sensor acces it and wipe them clean of all that hairy looking iron on it then your ready for no fault ABS till it grow hairy iron on it

ABS and TCL light trouble light comes on after sitting over night but after the car warms up and you drive it the lights go out.????????

It appears that there may be moisture getting into one of the sensors tied in to your abs sensor or your tcl sensor. It's usually not recommended to be driving when the abs light is on because it can indicate a failure and it may not work when you do some abrupt braking

TCL and ABS light has gone on and no seems to know why?

If the lights are on, their diagnostic computer should tell what is possibly wrong, I would take it to another shop and get another opinion, just for safety. Most small shops will plug in and tell what is wrong without a charge. If you had the tune up, oil change done at a Lube shop, I would definitely take it somewhere else.
