My 2001 monte carlo misses out, no engine lite is on.
My monte carlo misses out not all the time but sometimes worse than others. If you have it in park and give it gas it will not go above 4000 rpms and will miss out. I put new bosh plugs and plug wires on it and it did not help.

It's just not likely in an 11 year old car. Timing chains seldom get so worn and stretched that they could jump timing. How to know? Car will run very poorly, if at all. To be certain, pull the timing chain cover off and check the timing marks. Whatever problems you are having, have the engine computer scanned for trouble codes as the first step in diagnosis. Good luck.
i had cars do this before usually its a part called idle air control valve or iacv if your car has one it affects your emmissions also try checking that part.yup stalls car out and everything check engine light comes on sometimes
if this car has the 3800 or 3.8 ltr its on the passenger side towards the fire wall, the fill sits low in the back ,behind the engine, you might need a transmission funnel so you dont spill the p/s fluid all over the back of the engine, hope this helps
My monte carlo would hit 2nd gear and bog down and not shift properly until it got to the last gear. I had the catalytic converter replaced and that fixed that problem. (It also created another, but not near as bad)
You can have car put on scope and it wll show any irregularities in the ignition system. It can also be dowithout any equipment. First, loosing ALL 8 spark plug wires, Now place the spark plug wires loosly back on, just secure enough to secure. You might need 2 people. Being the miss is more consistant in gear, APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE , put trans into drive and raise rpm's till miss is obvious. Remove ONE plug wire at a time, TILL THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN MISS. Thats the cylinder missing. Start with the spark plug, inspect, work back to wires and cap. An EXTREME result will be NO COMPRESSION.
