but the bearing comes apart in two pieces. So how do you remove the rotor from the bearing?

  • peanutbudder Mar 10, 2009

yes we mean the brake rotor... Thanks for clarifying :)

  • peanutbudder Mar 10, 2009

Clarifying: Do I remove the four bolts that come out through the rotor that attach to the hub of the tire? And do I do this from the inside of the rotor with an impact gun? Is that bolt threaded all the way through the rotor?

AND thank you so much for your help!

Do you mean the brake rotor? The caliper shouldn't be attached to the axle at all.

If you are trying to replace the brake rotor, the 4 bolts that attach the hub to the rotor have to be removed, then the hub has to be pressed out of the bearing with a press. You can then remove the rotor itself, i would strongly recommend replacing the bearing assembly also due to the fact that when you remove the hub, half of te bearing assembly will come out with it, but in order to properly do the job, you will need a press. Hope this helps.

The bearing is inside of the caliper. whenyou pull the caliper, the bearing should come out with it. that is why they recommend that you change the bearing when you pull the caliper.

How do i fix cv axels on a 2002 hyundai accent

It's not worth it to fix the axel, it is wise to replace the axels
by jacking up the car secure the car with jack stands, then remove the wheels, the big center nut of the axel and the lower bolts on the ball joint, then pry the lower control arm down and pull the hubb aside. Now u could remove the axel easily, if stuck take a hammer and tap it lightly, remove it, replace with the new but make sure both ends r lubed with grease.

What is approx. cost to have dealer replace driver side window switch on 2001 Hyundai Elantra? If I try it myself, any suggestions about popping the door panel? Thanks.

Removing a door panel is fairly easy. You need to remove around 10 screws from the door panel. each screw has a small plastic cover over it, that can be easily removed by a small flathead screwdriver. After all of the screws are removed, you have to pop the door panel off, and unclip all of the wires.
!!GOOD LUCK!! hope this helps

How to replace 2002 hyundai elantra hub and bearing

With the car on ground, break loose the drive-axle nut, and the wheel nuts , than jack up the car, support it properly, remove the wheel ,remove the axle-nut.
Remove the brake caliper assembly-- support it properly.
Remove the two bolts that hold the hub bracket to the Macpherson strut assemble, remove the lower arm ball joint and remove the steering tie- rod ball-joint attached to the hub bracket. That's it.Slide off the hub /with the bracket off the drive-shaft.
Follow steps backwards to assemble back.

depending on how bad the axels are. you could buy new ones. or you can buy a rebuild kit. now for the leak just 1 seal but if your gonna remove both axels i suggest buyin both side seals.

How do you change a front wheel baring on 2001 hyundai sonata

pretty simple really remove wheel you can usually remove rotor with brake caliper still together as to not upset brake shoes in the center of the wheel hub there is a cap that you remove with screw driver and there will be a nut which will have a split pin or a lock washer installed to to stop nut from coming loose remove split pin or flatten out tabs on lock washer and remove main nut the remove rotor to reveal wheel bearings replace re grease and reassemble dont do up main nut over tight make sure wheel is free spinning without excess movement be sure to fold lockwasher tabs or place split pin remember if you have a problem you always have the other side to go on dont pull both sides apart at the same time hope this is helpfull any more questions just ask glenn.......

Front axel

Remove the wheel and the brake caliper. Remove the two 18mm bolts that hold the brake caliper bracket, and remove it and the rotor. Remove the small bolt that holds the antilock brake sensor and remove the sensor. Remove the 32mm axle nut. The nut may be hard to remove but it is right hand thread. You can remove the two 18mm bolts from the bottom of the strut and swing the whole wheel bearing assembly out just barely far enough to remove the axle without removing the lower ball joint. The axle is splined in the wheel bearing assembly and you can knock it out with a block of hard wood and a hammer. Reach back along the axle with a long extension and remove the two nuts holding the axle carrier bearing. Be careful not to let the axle fall down and damage the axle seal in the transmission. The axle should slide easily out of the transmission and only a tiny bit of fluid will leak out. Hope this helps. Good luck.
