Question about 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

3 Answers

My C6 Corvette 6 speed, which must be in reverse for the keyless ignition to shut off, won't shut down, even tho in reverse. The indicator tells me to shift to shift to reverse (it is in reverse). I tried holding the "off" button for several seconds, it shuts down, then restarts. The engine shuts off, it just thinks I am not in reverse.

I have the same damn thing!!! its in the shop now here were my problems Got the car back today I started it no chirpping... also shut down properly and shifted it into reverse now the car shuts down. I started the car up and the only thing I noticed wierd was the mirrors were both pointed down. So i fixed that, and all my personal settings were still the same HUD stereo everything. So i pulled out and drove less than 10 miles home ( I monitored the battery voltage the hole way home 13.8-13.9) then pulled in my garage and shut it down shifted to reverse and the message wouldn't go off, so my car wouldnt shut down!!!! so I tried it a couple of time and finally one time and one time only it shut down. So I drove it right back to the dealer and showed them and now its in again. I looked over my invoice and apparently the reflashed the BCM reprogrammed and replaced the key fob batteries, replaced the battery, and replaced my water pump and belts and changed the oil, and my gas cap decieded to go while it was there and the gas cap message was on so they replaced that also, 1584.00 bucks later here I am at square one, but this time it will start just not shut down. ohh one other thing, I noticed after the car wouldnt shut down right before I took it back, the HUD display changed to way out of center and changed the display type????? does anyone think the reverse switch could be bad??? PLEASE HELP ME...

Not sure about your problem...but I have a 2008 Z06 and a 2010 GS...I have never noticed that it has to be in reverse to shut them off...I do try to put them in reverse, but have noticed a couple of times that they weren't and in fact I never pulled the park brake which is supposed to shut the power off of the system. I do have problems in the new GS where it won't start even with the clutch all the way in??? That has happened a couple of times. You may want to go to a better qualified dealer. One thing I have noticed about the new vettes are strange electrical problems that take a lot of time and good engineers to find the problem....good luck!!!!

Where is the RAP Retained Aux Power module/relay located in a 2005 Corvette C6? Where can I find a wiring diagram and how would I check RAP status with a TechII???

Serial Data Control of Retained Accessory Power (RAP)
Retained accessory power (RAP) is a vehicle power mode that permits the operation of selected customer convenience items after the ignition switch is turned OFF. These selected items will remain in operation until a passenger compartment door is opened or until the RAP function timer reaches its shut-off limit.
The class 2 RAP power mode is mapped to GMLAN serial data circuit as Off power mode. Refer to Data Link Communications Description and Operation for more information on data link communications. The body control module (BCM) monitors the ignition mode signal from the ignition mode switch, battery condition and the doors status to determine whether RAP should be initiated. The modules that support the RAP power mode will operate the systems under their control as required by their RAP power mode strategy.
RAP will end when one of the following conditions is met:
• The BCM detects the opening of a passenger compartment door.
• The RAP timer expires.
• The battery capacity decreases below a prescribed limit.
• Any other ignition switch state is chosen.
The functions supported in the RAP power mode are:
• The power windows
• The instrument panel cluster (IPC) and driver information center (DIC) displays
• The entertainment devices

On my 2007 C6 Corvette I shut it off and I can still hear a little motor sound turns on and off about every two minutes

Are the keys nearby? Corvettes computer continues to run if keyfob is within 20 feet. This leads to dead battery syndrome. The computer is designed to run for a couple minutes until your key fob is out of sitance then the car shuts down.

1989 corvette how to reset the vat

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well. Side note: the only reset procedure for VATS is the ten minute reset. It is on this link as well. There is nothing else for VATS. No training or relearn process. It's really not that smart. It either works, or it's broken.

Transmission won't shift & speed odometer don't work

oooo man i just spent a ton of money trying to figure this problem out. i have a 99 bravada to. let me guess the gauges lite up but the rpm and spedo do not work. also the transmission wont shift while in drive. this is how i fixed mine. on the driver side, open the door there is a fuse box on the side of the dash. it is probly shorted out, even tho the fuses arnt blow it could still not be working. here is what u can to to fix it temporarly. take out the fuses that say dash and ignition, now run a hot wire to the fuse box and touch it to the ignition and dash fuse spots. and while u have both of them connected turn the car on and put it in drive and it should take off in first gear and run how it should. (when u connect the hot wire to those spots the dash should come on, even tho the key isnt on)

1998 Corvette - 51K When I let the clutch fully out the engine shuts down. Happens in reverse and first gear (I'm assuming 2-6 as well).

this sounds like a clutch problem mostlikely the preasure plate is broken and jaming the clutch system, i would start by remove the trany and checking the clutch out.

Purchased a new clicker.from g/m.i can't program it.i have replaced the transformer under the dash panel that was used.. i have been told 96 models has several transmitters on it.

1. Move all Keyless Remotes out of range of vehicle. (10 to 15 feet)
2. Turn ignition key to the ON position.
3. Push the TRIP/ODO button on the DIC (Driver Info Center) twice.
4. Within 5 seconds, push & hold the FUEL INFO button on the DIC until
the PKE light comes on and stays on.
5. Turn the ignition to the OFF position, but leave the key in the ignition.
The PKE light will begin flashing.
6. Bring one Keyless Remote into range. The PKE light will stop flashing
and stay on to show the code is stored. Move the Keyless Remote out
of range. The PKE light will begin flashing indicating the system is ready
for the next Keyless Remote.
7. If more than one Keyless Remote is being programmed, move the first
Keyless Remote out of range and repeat step 6 for any additional Keyless
Remotes. Up to three Keyless Remotes can be programmed.
8. To turn off the programming mode, simply remove the key from the ignition
or turn the ignition switch on.
9. The programming mode will shut off after two minutes if.
A) You have not programmed any Keyless Remotes.
B) Removed the key from the ignition.
C) After three Keyless Remotes have been programmed.

Good luck and keep me posted.

unhook cable from tran. and see if you can push it in park if so you need a shift cable or the natural safty swicth is bad

C 6 transmission

Forward drive in the C6 requires both the forward clutch AND the low/reverse, one-way clutch, or intermedaite band to engage. Since you have reverse but no forward, the forward clutch is most likely the problem, since it is needed only for forward speeds and does not affect reverse. Sounds like a trans rebuild.
