I did as I was advised on this website and the advices were very resourceful. However I think I have found the real reason for my engine running hot. I found out that the fan isn't functionning. I bought this fan, brand new from the manufacturer with the housing fully assembled. realized that as long as the van is moving the engine does not overheat. However when I stop at trafic lights for long then it overheats.What could be the posible causes of a fan failing to function? I also

This engine is definitely beyond repair and needs replacement. I would first shop auto recyclers in your area to find an engine/transaxle with less miles than what your mechanic is offering (100,000 miles is a lot). Hope this helps.
first of all please check with the car scanner and let me know what is the trouble code ,maybe 02 sensor but l think you better check the fuel pressure or the air leak. for nissan model above 2 litre car it should at least 3.6 bar pressure
this is known as a "cold start" problem. common possibilities include a restricted fuel filter, clogged or dirty injectors, or even a problem with the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) or oxygen (O2) sensor.
There were alot of problems with the 3.8 V6. Overheating and head cracking. You'd be very lucky to find a 95 without the proble. 95-96 were the worst years. May want to consider the Mercury villager. Same as the Nissan Quest.
was the engine overheating before this repair? and again do u have bubbles in the coolant tank when the engine is running?, this is best checked when the engine is 1st started. I ask because I think u may have a leaking cylinder head gasket, this would account for the overheating still occurring.
