No charging in Cavalier 99 2.2 L

Hello,

I have a problem in my Chevy Cavalier 1999 2.2 L engine.
The problem is that there is no battery charging and this stuff is realy wiered.
At first, When I just turned on the engine, the battery lamp indicator was on but after few seconds it went off and the drive was clean with no problem. This thing was something for 6 months ... Till a few days ago..
Now, I know that there are few simple things you need to do before going to the mechaninc but this stuff realy intersting me so I'm trying to resolve it by myself.
So... The battery was replaced and its new now, so I thought the problem is in the Alternator - but today I've changed the battery also and I just cant understand why there is no charging. I've check the entrance of the elect to the battery.. and nothng. I've looked in the alternator schemes I got and I just can't figure it out.
Any help ??
Thanks !!

Oh , I just asked my brother about it (he's the one dealing with this issue) and he said that the new alternator was checked on other chevy , in addition, he checked all the Diodes in it.

He says that 5V from the computer is not reaching the alternator .. Can it be ? I need to say that I've replaced the computer 4 months ago..

    Thanks.

The diodes in the alternator are bad. rebuilding the alternator will fix this charging problem.

I have a 1999 Chevy cavalier that has a hard time cranking, but will always start. The fuel pump is coming on and working any advice would be very helpful. P/S i bought the car used with this problem.

Is the battery fully charged for the cranking operation? If it is and still cranks slowly check to make sure that there is no corrosion on battery contacts. If all checks out fine it is possible that the engine may have overheated before you owned it and some parts expanded and were damaged with result that it is hard to turn the engine over .

Try the ERG vacuum and hose on the right of the engine. You may have a vacuum leak or a bad valve. This smog valve causes a lot of problems.

Well the biggest problems for the 98 and 99 cavaliers are that they mess up from the timing chain,..they make a rattling noise on the right side underneath the fender.
