I want to put a pioneer car deck into my truck but I do not know the wiring in it

Hi,normaly you need a live wire and a earth wire,so if you find a live wire you need to put a fuse holder between the live wire that you have picked and the radio, then the rest is just to sort out your speakers.
hope this was some help.

1999 subaru legacy b4 radio color code

Hi Caleb, There is a way of identifying the cables without the colour codes. Make up a test lamp and get an almost flat AA or AAA battery cell. The music system has an earth connection which you can identify by looking at where it is connected (onto the chassis of the set). It has a constant power supply and another which is controlled by the ignition switch. If the set you're fitting has automatic night and day illumination, there will be a connection operating from the panel lights. The constant power supplies power for the memory. First identify the connection which when connected is controlled by the ignition key. Once tested identify the cable which remains 'live' even with ignition off and mark it. With the AA or AAA battery cell, test each pair of cables by connecting one cable of the pair to the + and swiping the other cable of the pair across the - side. The speaker being tested will be identified by a 'thumping' sound. Mark each as to its physical location in the vehicle. Connect each to the correct output. and when done you will be left with the antenna connection, which only fits one place. Identify the memory power cable, the illumination power (becoming live with the park lights) and the power output from the set to the power antenna (if fitted.) Make the final connections. Record the access code somewhere safe and fit the set into the consul and happy listening. Regards John

My radio quit working. does it need to be

Check all fuses for radio...In addition to the fuse in the fuse box, there could be inline fuses tucked up under dash or in rear of radio. There should be 2 live positive wires going to radio...one constant power, the other live when key is On or Acc..also check for good earth connection. Hope this helps.

Wiring stereo 1995 BMW 318Ti

HI, you do not need a wiring diagram, do you have a stereo already installed, if it is factory it is probably a baupunkt or a pioneer, although no bmw came with a radio as standard years ago, they where all fitted at the dealers. check for your constant positive with your meter. then find the ignition positive, ie.only on with the ignition, the constant keeps all your programmed channels. earth noemally brown on a bmw. but live in you're house!! green with a yellow tracer or line in your house is earth. then the feed to the electric aerial if you have one, if not forget about it, i think it is grey? then you just need your speakers, they are normally on a totally different plug, if you have 2 plugs thet are din plugs, or deutsch industrie norm. or in english german standard normal. It is a set size or measuremeent, din radio will basically fit into that size of hole in a dashboard.the speakers are normally gery with a black tracer, white with a black racer etc. if you touch these and do not get a shock they are speaker wires, ...only joking, you cannot get a shock from any of them..It should be easy enough to swap over especcially if you are just upgrading to anothr radio. just undoo each speaker with the stereo on to see where thet are located in the car, you cannot do to much damage. if the wires are say grey and grey with a black tracer, if you wire them up black and then grey with black tracer the wrong way around , they will still work, its not like putting the positive to the earth etc, on the radio.I doubt if there is actually a wiring diagram for basic bmw models, except for the 7 series top of the line, in the 80's the radio case for it to fit into was not even in the top of the range 5 series, we had to fit them in, the latest 3 series which had it in the dash came in from germany with a big plastic plate where the radio should be, datsun started fitting radios,as standard roll on nissan....

Ive bought a peugeot306 recently and the person who had the car before has took there car stereo out and cut the wire, so now im having trouble putting my stereo in. thanks

  • First thing to do is isolate all the cables from each other and put insulating tape over the bare cables.
  • Now using a multimeter set on 12 volts or above test each cable in turn with the ignition on.
  • You will find one live cable that is only live when you have your ignition in the number one position.
  • This is the live feed to your radio, fit a small amp-age fuse (5 or 7.5 amp) depending on the rating for your new radio.
  • You will have speaker wires, these you can identify by tracing them from each speaker.
  • By now you will have identified your live cable and your speaker cables.
  • You may have a secondary live for a electric aerial and an earth cable. You must earth your radio even if you have to make an earth on the inner bodywork.
  • If you do not need the secondary live then make if safe.
  • If you need the secondary live fit an appropriate fuse.
  • Earth the new radio.
I use this system on used cars before fitting radios/cd players. It works but be careful.
