Question about 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

Brake lights dont work, Turn Signals all goofy

2004 Chevrolet Tahoe LS. Problem:

1: Brakelights do not light up when I step on brake pedal (except third light).

2: If daytime running lamps or headlights are on and I step on brake pedal, turn signals light up very dimly.

3: If daytime running lamps or headlights are on and I hit the turn signal, it flashes VERY quickly. But if I step on the brake while the turn signal is flashing and the headlights are on, it freezes the turn signal - it lights steady until I let off the brakes. (Keep in mind, brake lights are not working.)

4:If daytime running lights are off and I hit the turn signal, it flashes the third brake light AND the opposite turn signal in the rear. (But the correct turn signal in the front.)

HELP! Of course, I just paid off the vehicle. Never had a problem with it. Within 24 hours of paying off the loan, it starts doing this. :(

4: Tail-lights are very dim.

First thing i would do is chg. the break light switch, and make sure to chk. all grounds around tailights, sometimes if there is a ground problem it will travel back thru the hot wire to get a ground, witch in turn makes everything go wackey.

I've got a 1975 GMC Sierra C15. The tail lights and turn signals work just fine but the brake wont come on. Can anyone help me out? The tail lights turn signals and brakelights all work on one bulb.

Your brake pedal controls a switch that turns the brake lights on. If the switch or the wires from the switch are broken, no brake lights.

Third brake light stays on; brakelights very dim; radio, clock, flasher emblem on dash blink when turn signals are used; signals flash fast when brake pedal is applied.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere in the brake circuit. May be between the brakes and the blinkers in the brake lights.

No brake lights or turn signals on 1997 chevy lumina

Check the fuses..If ok ,,then most likely the signal switch..Your brake light circuit runs through the signal switch as well..Get someone to watch your brake lights to see if they come on..Now push the brake down and move your signal switch around and see if the brake light comes on intermittently..If so its definetly your switch

My brakelights don't work, but the turn signals do, the fuses were changed and the bulbs were changed

possible issues could be brake light switch not working, bulbs could be burnt, broken wire to rear lights

1998 tahoe brake lights don't work replaced switch still dont work touch and go

There is a clip that gets worn on the brake pedal that holds the switch tight to one side. It must be put on correctly or else the brake lights will come on for a split second and then go out when you push the brake pedal down further.

My rear side brakelights dont work but the center one up top does

The reason that your side brakes do not work is because your brake light switch has gone out. Your particular brake light switch has two lines going out of it which is what makes it so you still have your center brake light. The switch is located on the pedal and is fairly easy and cheap to replace. Replace it and your brake lights will be back to normal. Let me know if you have any further questions about this.
