Try checking the fuse for the wiper blades first if the fuse is good then check the relay for the wiper blades, if the fuse and the relay are both good it is possible that the wiper motor for the blades is bad.

Why wont my mercury sables windshield wipers park right?

Many Ford products had problems with this, it is the wiper motor.
Replacing the motor is the only way to fix it, because the "park" position is built into the motor.
Be blessed.

1997 mercury grand marquis wipers

We have the same problem on our 97 Grand Marquis. We have replaced the wiper blades and the drivers wiper arm with a used one. The problem was not completely solved but it did work better. We are going to replace the arm with a new one and see if that works better.

I can't get the windshield wipers off the put the new ones on. HELP! I am pretty good at getting this stuff done but I have been working on this for an hour now.

you will need to lift the arms up, then turn the wiper-blades vertical and there is a little release lever, either push/pull lever, remove old blades install new ones. Hope this helped Tim

Where is the drain plug on the radiator? 1997 Mercury Sable station wagon

as i recall, it is on the back of the radiator on the engine side at the bottom, probably under the lower radiator hose. it is a t fitting, probalby really tight, dont break it off. and be sure and have something to hold the coolant and not let it run in the gutter. critters drinking it, especially birds, die from it, and your neighbors get upset when you pollute

Trying to find windshield wiper motor. Where is it

remove wiper arm and check splines on wiper motor or splines on wiper arm for damage if damaged replace. Sometimes arms are just installed with a nut and this nut over time becomes loose check tightness.

Not working

Check the bulbs to see if they're good (rare that both bulbs go at same time). If they're good, check to see if there's power to your sockets.
Under your car on the side of your transmission will be your reverse switch. It will have several wires coming out of it. Most likely the switch has died.
