Re: My left windshield wiper on 1998 ford f150 has...
Check the wiper armature, sometimes the pins come loose that connect both sides to the wiper motor, the armature should be located under the cowl at the firewall, you will see the metal arm assemblies under it, just check to see if one of them came loose. Hope this helps.

The windshield wipers only worked occasionally. ... My 1998 dodge ram wipers only work on high will this help me? thanks.... Express van. you have to take out the motor and the transmission from under the front of the van..
Water intrusion causes f150's fuse boxes to corrupt. This is porbably your problem. Mine does the same thing, if you disconnect the fuse to the chime, you will lose your windshield wipers as well.. Check and see if your windshield wipers turn on even with no key in the ignition. Soon your fuses will start blowing left and right. You prbably need a new fuse box. Don't let anyone talk you into replacing it with a used one. My mechanic has replaced it with a used one 5 times to no avail. They were all bad. Afetr paying him almost $300 he refuses to work on it anymore. Even though it still isn't fixed. I even offered to pay the difference for a new fuse box. I have basically been screwed out of $300. So take my advise just pay the $400 for a new one from Ford to save yourself a headache.
on the wiper harm ...should be a little cap remove-it ,make shure the rignt wiper is at good spot, unscrew the left wiper arm (not shure that its a screw ,could also be a clip under the arm )how ever ,once it is out ,put -it rignt back at is rignt spot...if it is still wrong ...could be the shaft that is worn or someone could ave replaced the harm inside the hood for a wrong one
have you had any recent work done near the wipers? .if no the linkage from the wipers to the motor has come out of adjustment, there is a removeable cover above hood, and below winshield to see and repair as needed.. good luck marty
If the wipers were buried under snow/ice or frozen to the windshield, you may have blown the red 10 amp fuse located in cavity 9 in the fuse block located on the bottom left side of the instrument panel near the parking brake pedal. In order of easiest to check: 1) ensure wipers not frozen to windshield. 2) ensure wiper arms are not loose on the pivot stud, 3) check the red 10 amp fuse. You stated that "you can hear the motor". Which motor do you hear? The engine or the wiper motor? If you hear the wiper motor, then the fuse is alright. Try 1) and 2) above. PT Stanley
