When a transmission gets to this point, it needs to be taken to a reputable trans shop and completely checked out. If fluid is burned or metal contaminated it will likely need a rebuild. If you have no burning etc, check to see if any codes indicating a problem with electronics (such as a shift module)

How do I fix the transmission problem? The car is moving forward at neutral, drive and low gear, and switching to parking mode at reverse and parking. The car is not backing up at all.

Transmission may now be toast since you continued to drive it when maybe low on fluid or torque converter had failed. How long since last fluid and filter change? Ever?

Will go in gear but car will not move

If the car does not move either forward or in reverse gear, then it may be due the following defects:
- Inner cup of one of the CV Joints may have jumped out of the transmission. (Simply push it back in the transmission forcibly)
- Torque converter damaged.
Or there could be something which has gone bad within the transmission assembly, for example:
1. Manual valve.
2. Valve body assembly.
3. Planetary gear unit.
4. Forward clutch.
5. Number 2 one-way clutch.
6. Reverse clutch.
7. 1st and reverse brake.

I have 2005 Chevy Suburban; when you engage the gear in drive the truck would move but won't get out of the first gear. I've checked my transmission fluid and its ok. It also responds to reverse when you...

Common problem probably a 4L60E transmission The low and reverse clutches are the same ones The forward clutches are another set and then there are the 3-4 clutches in another pack. So you probably burn out the forward clutches or could be a stuck valve in the valve body. Time for a transmission specialist.

Transmission made a loud pop then quit moving in drive. Truck still moves in reverse

An automatic transmission consists of a series of bands (gears) which is each gear within the transmission. You state that truck will move in reverse, but not in drive. The loud pop you heard was the forward gear band breaking. From this point you have two options...either have the transmission rebuilt or replaced.

Could frozen e brakes cause car not to go forward, car moves easy in reverse

No. An emergency brake on the 86 camaro engages the pads against the rotor and the vehicle would not move either in reverse or forward. It sounds like you have a gear problem in the transmission that could be related to either solenoid or actual gear wear. Assuming the vehicle is being MOVED as you say while the engine is running.. thus providing the energy to move it.. Going in reverse has the solenoid engaged one way, drive the other way. Solenoid sounds damaged at this point. Unfortunately this probably will require a transmission rebuild.

Car stops moving in reverse gear

Sounds like the car is just slipping out of gear. Keep your hand on the shifter when you back up next time. See if you can feel the shifter move when the car comes out of gear. If the shifter moves up when it happens keep pressure on the shifter holding it back like you dont want it to move forward. And of course if the shifter moves back when it comes out of gear, put forward pressure on the shifter so it doesnt slip out. This might work for now but but i know i wouldnt want to spen 700 for that ****. Let me know how it goes.
