Question about 2008 Honda Pilot

1 Answer

Oil change I changed the oil for the first time in my 2008 Honda Pilot when the indicator read 40%. The mechanic could not re-set it to 100% because my car came without an Owner's Manual. The indicator has now gone down to 10%. Could it be a result of my using SW5 40 instead of the SW5 20 recommended by the manufacturers? My mechanic advised on the oil type since I now live in the tropics. I have this fear that the engine may shut out on me. How do I re-set this? Please advise William

Don't worry. The car will not shut off on you. I work at a oil change store for a long time.and
I will try the best I can to explain on how to do it.

There is a button that you press that changes the Miles number on your car. Like for an example, press the button to change from ODO to TRIP A to TRIP B to ODO.
OK, next to that button there should be a reset button.

Turn the key to the ON position, But don't start the car.
Now. hold the reset button down for ten seconds until the display starts flashing.
Ok, when it is flashing, hold down the reset button again for ten seconds until it says " OIL LIFE 100%"

Change oil still showing after oil and filter is changed

In Ford Taurus X, after an oil change, the oil life indicator can be reset to 100% by holding the reset (system check) button. It will prompt you whether you want to reset to 100%. Set it and it will come back to 100%. This step takes hardly 10 seconds.

The indicator light is on and it's a B 12. Honda Pilot 2008. The book says air filter, etc Any ideas?

Time to maintenance... B12 just means an oil change and inspection (B), tire rotation (1), and replacing the air cleaner element/dust & pollen filter/inspect drive belt (2).

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

I jusy purchased a 2008 honda accord with no owners manuel. The car has 19,000. miles. The oil life states its at 100%. My question is do I get an oil change?

100% indicates the oil is new, or at least the oil life meter has been reset. It counts down as it gets closer to oil change time.

I have a 2009 Honda Pilot. It has 14775K miles on it. We have been using the oil indicator light to dictate when to change the oil. We have only replaced it once. We used Mobile Synthetic 5W-20. NO...

i say change your oil every 3000 to 3500 miles no matter what any little monitoring system says!!!!!!
oil is the lifeblood of the car and is the key to a great, long lasting vehicle.

Honda-crv 2008, When to change the oil.

Honda say thats not true and to wait until the car tells you when to change it. I have a 2008 CRV and you should and can wait till the oil say 15%! We took ours in after a long road trip for our first oil change. We had over 5K and the oil said 65%. The guy said that we did not need to bring it in. We still had change it while it was their but the car goes around 8-9 K on a oil change. A little wrench will come on and the oil life % will come on when it reach15% and will come on every time you start the car till you get it changed.
