Go get the codes ran at auto zone or advance auto parts they will do it for free. If the codes come up as a cylinder miss-fire then it is most likely a coil (being a ford). Write down which cylinder it is. I wouldn't replace any of the spark plugs , useless you have more than 100,000 miles. If you have to replace the spark plugs use BOSH double plautim or better. The cylinder placing is ( as your are looking at the front of the truck) passenger side front to back 1-2-3-4 driving side front to back 5-6-7-8. If you never seen a coil buy one so you know what you are looking for. The coil is held in by a 7mm bolt. Take the bolt out and replace the coil. Problem Solved. Estimated time 20 Mins with 60 dollars per coil.

I believe your engine has a "coil on plug"ignition system. Good idea, but Ford had a lot of trouble with the coils and extensions that go to the plugs. You will need to have the codes pulled from the computer with a scan tool, this will reveal the offending units. You could try replacing the extensions first, but you may need the coil packs as well.

Most of the time it is the fuel filter or air filter. I have been a mechanic for 30 years. I make sure that I give my cars and truck a good service every time it is do. 1) change oil and filter, air filter, and fuel filter every 3,000 -- 4,000 miles. 2) I change my anti-freeze, tranny oil and filter, All differentials oils, and lube. This depends on how much you drive. But should be at least checked 2 times a year.

Where is the egr valve on a 99 Ford expedition

The EGR valve is in a very difficult spot to work on. If the EGR is bad it will set off the check engine light and make the vehicle run rough or stall at idle. It really doesn't make it run rough while driving or accelerating. What are the conditions when the car runs rough?

You might check the pulleys that the serpentine belt runs on. Make sure all are free wheeling and not loose or rough or make noise. You would need to remove the belt to check them.

2000 ford expedition ,,rough idle in park..rough idle in drive,, sometimes dies..rpm's in drive at idle 400...replaced iac

Check the fuel pressure at the rail assembly, there should be a min of 40 lbs at the rails. Do you have any loss of power under a load? You may have an issue with your o2 sensor that is causing the ecm to send an improper signal to the engine ign/fuel map.

Expedition running rough on acceleration, it's a 5.4L.

running rough means it is misfiring.does it run smoothly without load or at idle?If it does then better check you fuel pressure as the engine needs more fuel under load.
