1997 jetta didnt have key so hot wired, ran fine for few days and just wont start now , why?

The 97 Jetta has a built in security system and if you hot wire anything it interferes with it and will shut the car down and will not start again. Un hook the battery and wait 5 mins and then hook it back up. The alarm might go off so use the key to turn it off and then try to start the car. That should fix it and if not I cannot fix it without seeing it. Sorry and hope that it works for you. It has happened to me when I switched out my stereo with an aftermarket one.

How to reset ecu on 07 chevy hhr

Try disconnecting battery for about 20 min then reconnect. Then turn the key to the on position but do not start it for about 15 seconds, then turn the key off, then try starting it. This should reset the computer.

I have a 1995 chevy lumina ls . i was driving down the road and came to a stop sign. it stalled out , this done it several times. then a few days later i went to go start it and it wouldnt start, i moved...

You may have a defective neutral safety switch. The switch is located on the outside if the transmission case and it is where the cable connects from the shooter inside the car. This covers the no start, the stall is likely due to a dirty throttle valve and idle speed control valve.

Engine stall or RPM fluctuates at idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control.
Below is a picture of the switch I mentioned.

My car a 2000 Chevy malibu started over heating and reached 260 degrees and then car randomly shut off.... I Let it cool down put some antifreeze in it and started it back up drove it 15 miles down road...

In a way it has a fail switch, the shut down was triggered by a program in the computer. I would suspect the thermostat stuck closed, suggest you replace it.

2000 Chevy s10 starting problem

Check the ignition and Engine relay switches located under the hood. Sometimes relays go weak with age and even a bump on the road will shut them off. If you can turn the truck on, take it to Autozone or similar store for a free DTC scan code.
