The door adjar switch is sticking. Most of the time you can spray WD40 into the latch assembly in the door and open and close the door a few times and this will unstick it.

Look at this pick,no.3 is the door adjar switch it hooks into the bottom of the latch assembly. The top of it is a little ball plunger that fits against the bottom of the latch. This starts to stick and causes it to stay on. To replace it you would have to remove the door panel then look at the latch it twist clips into the bottom and has 1 wire hooked to it.

Try the WD40 trick I told you about first, this works almost all the time, very seldom do you actually have to replace it.

Just spray a liberal amount into the latch on the side of the door then open and close the door several times.Do bothe doors this way.

Is this occuring on only one door? If so, chances are you probably have a faulty door switch, which would control the dome light and the door ajar light. Check for a push button type switch on the inner door jam closest to the fender, if there is not one there, then you may have the type of switch that works off the actual door latch assembly itself which would be located on the latch, you would have to remove your inner door panel to access this. Hope this helps.

Check the pin switches on the door frames that control the interior lights.

I'm not sure where it is on your F250, but I would look for a small steel 'pin' about 1/4" in diameter, surrounded by a rubber ring, between the two door hinges. You'll know you've found it if you open the door that does not cause the fault, and you can push in the pin and make the light go out. Other than that, it may be in the latch assembly.

Actually, forget the making the light go out part - if one pin is messed up, you won't be able to make the interior light go out. But tell me if you located the pin switches....

Ford Taurus SE 1999. Dome Light - Door Ajar indicator problem. This is an intermittent problem, hence far more difficult to isolate. OK. I will be thorough in describing this "set of problems" as I do...

i must say that i feel your pain with this,, my door ajar light does the same thing but my dome light doesn't come on when the doors are open, i have to flick the switch on the dome light to make it come on. In my opion and i stress my opion it saounds like a issue with the body controller, im not sure what ford calls it but it controls all the body functions, i dont think the low coolant light is connected to the body contoller but i dont know this for sure, i think that light is controlled bny the engine ecm. some times a dealer can connect to the body controller and see if there are any fault codes for circuits that it controls and or monitors, also they can reflash or update the configeration and or calibration level cause ford release's fixes for issues all the time, same theory works for any control module on a vehicle. i dont think any of the auto parts stores have the right program to connect to bofy controlers but i could be wrong, worth looking into. i only put up with mine cause i use it as a beater, if you are worried about your dome light staying on and drianing your battery then you could pull out or disconnect the dome lights for the time being, its not a fix but just a band-aid.

the problem is door ajar switch located on one of the door latches just inside the door. what usually works is spraying wd40 or an electronic lubricant prayed liberally into the door latch and then opening and closing the door several times. the stuck switch is usually on the door that is the least used door like the passenger side rear. let us know how you make out.

2001 Sequoia, door ajar light goes off, but dome light stays on. Door ajar light comes on with slight pressure against closed door. Can replacing the door jam switch solve this problem? Why would the door...

To temporarily solve the light problem, I taped a washer to the inside of the door where the door hits the plunger on the light switch. A permanent solution would be to drill a hole in the door at this spot and put a self taping screw in that will trigger the switch sooner. I figured out the reason the dome light stayed on is due to the courtesy light timer and the lights would have eventually gone off.

Door ajar dash trouble and dome light stays on even if all doors

The door sensors will need to be replaced. A screws can be removed and then a wire can be taken of and you then can replace the switch.

2004 crown vic interior lights stay on

Don't think you have a door ajar switch problem , more then like the lighting control module is the culprit . Does the door ajar light on the instrument cluster stay lit ?
The interior lighting can be separated into two distinct modes of operation: the courtesy lighting and the demand lighting. The lighting control module (LCM) controls all of the interior lighting in the vehicle, as described in the following text.
The front dome lamps, rear reading lamps, and instrument panel courtesy lamps, can be illuminated either by opening any of the vehicle doors (courtesy lamp function) or by depressing the headlamp switch (demand lamp function).
When any door is open, the door ajar switch grounds an input to the LCM which then sends power to the courtesy lamps. The voltage sent to the courtesy lamps gradually increases from 0 volts to 12 volts within 500 ms (± 50 ms), to achieve the theater lighting effect. When the door(s) are closed the door ajar switch(es) break(s) the ground to the LCM input which then gradually reduces the power from 12 volts to 0 volts within 5 seconds. (± .5 second).
When the headlamp switch is depressed it grounds an input to the LCM which in turn sends 12 volts to the front dome lamps, rear reading lamps, and instrument panel courtesy lamps. When the headlamp switch is depressed a second time, it breaks the ground to the LCM input which then ceases to send power to the front dome lamps, rear reading lamps, and instrument panel courtesy lamps.

The battery saver will disrupt power to the courtesy lamps after 10 minutes, the demand lamps after 30 minutes, and the headlamps after 10 minutes. Turning the ignition switch to the RUN or ACC position will terminate the battery saver feature by disabling the interrupt timers and reinstate power to the lamps.

My passenger door has no power,my security light is on constantly

Have lost power to the passenger side door. Without power system doesnt recognize door closed because of no power to door ajar switch which keeps dome light on. Security light stays on because without power to rest of systems supplied by fuse it cannot tell if doors and windows closed to engage security features. Most common is for power wire to break somewhere near where it leaves to main body and enters the door.
