Interior lights don't go on

2004 Chevy Malibu - The interior lights do not go on when the remote unlocks the doors or when the doors are opened.  I can turn them on manually.  Suggestions?

I assumed something got turned off, too.  The first thing I did was check the manual but it was no help.  Any other suggestions?

Just purchased a 2006 Malibu LT V6 with no interior lights upon door opening. The interior light works in the manual mode. I have tried all passenger doors as well. The owners manual doesnot mention interior lighting as a menu function. If the feature is turned off it must be controled by other than the dashboard menu system.

There is the overhead light right above your center console. It has three positions, always on (all the way right), Always off (all the way left), and On when you open your doors (center position). Sometimes I knock it accidentally. Had you already checked that?

It sounds like the feature has been turned off. Check your owners manual, it will show you how to reactivate them again.
Start there, if that doesn't work, let me know.

Well, if the lights have not been deactivated, then it becomes a bit more complicated.

When you use your remote to unlock the doors, the RFA module sends a serial message to the BCM to unlock the doors and turn on the lights. We know the message is sent because the doors unlock.

When you open the drivers door, a ground signal is sent to connector C1 at the BCM to turn on the lights, We know that is not happening.

When you open any of the passenger doors, a ground signal is sent to connector C2 at the BCM. Have you tried opening one of the passenger doors to see if the lights will come on? It would help to narrow it down.

As it stands right now, either the feature is turned off or the BCM is faulty.

Try a passenger door, front or rear and see if the lights come on and let me know.

In the mean time, I will investigate the feature function and see if there is something specific you need to do.

    Let me know.

    Regards,

The interior lights of my 99 chevy malibu do not work. Can this be a fuse problem?

yes it can be a fuse, most cars have a dimmer for dash/interior lights if fuse is ok it may be the dimmer switch.

2004 chevy siverado interior lights not working. when door opens they will not work. but interior lights work with interior switches and with key fob

If your problem is in all doors I'm probably wrong :)

But..you may find that an inner door jamb spring loaded switch has failed. It works exactly like the one in your fridge does, It triggers power to the light when the spring is out ,.. sometimes it gets stuck in you might just be able to clean and loosen it up.

Cant get my interior lights to come on when i open the door.

My 02 did the same thing, i don't know if you tried this, but turn the interior lights on with the dimmer switch, then back off. Then lock the car with the remote and hopefully when you unlock it the lights will start coming on.
