Question about 2003 Ford Ranger Regular Cab

Check engine light came on and stays on but engine runs great

2003 Ford Ranger 3.0 v-6 engine with around 105k miles on the engine. Is this symptom generally connected to smog disorders?

YES, If the light stay on it is associated with pollution controls. It may be as simple as a bad gas cap or as serious as an intake gasket
take it to a local auto parts store 90% of them have the OBDII tester and they will check it and give you the results, then you can repair it take it back and they can clear the light..

A lot of times yes it's just an emissions sensor acting up.

The oil pump may have gone bad. Involves dropping the oil pan and replacing the oil pump, check the pan for any metal peices.

2004 ford f150 ranger shuts off during operation tach stays up arround 2000 rpm while in gear engine does not rev when pushing on pedal out of gear nor does the rpm change when in gear. few seconds later...


Is this a diesel?If it is check the fuel filter.If it is a gas burner,check the air flow(air filter,and filter box)for a plastic bag or paper sack sucked up in the intake duct.If this checks out fine ,have the cat.checked to see if it is stopped up.

first go to an auto partstore and have the code checked. most do it for free. could be coil, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter or even a bad gas cap. but the dianogstic test should pin point the problem.
