Thanks guys. Had a friend of mine look at the cars about the mis-fires. Wires and plugs were replaced 2 years ago when i had intake manifold gasket changed. He told me wires are ok and pulled 2 plugs and they were clean. When he removed all 6 plug wires from coils , the spark was not blue. Any ideas ? Please let me know. Thanks again

John, Did the check engine light come on with codes that indicate that there is a misfire problem? If so, it can be the following: spark plugs, spark plug wires, or injectors. How is it running? I have a Chrysler product that seems to run fine, but the engine light came on, and when I scanned for codes, discovered the misfire problem. Plugs and wires are new(er) so I just picked up 2 fuel injectors today (codes indicated cyl. 1 and 5 were misfiring) So start with the easy stuff, plugs and wires, especially if they haven't been changed in a while. Let me know how u make out. Curt

usually each coil controls 2or3 cylinders, so probably a bad coil. you can learn how to test the coil on autozone.com.

Why does my 1998 Buick Century cutting out or skipping when driving and makes the engine light flash

Misfiring. Have the codes read. Code number p0301 is number 1 cylinder. p0304 would be number 4 cylinder and so on.

2001 buick century P0304 step on gas engine light starts flashing

P0304 is engine misfire #4 cylinder Several things can cause a misfire #1 electrical which you have covered #2 Mechanical Test engine compression is should be around 150 cranking and 120 running . internal valve train components can cause bad compression and the valves then self. #3 fuel injector can be the cause suggest swapping with a know good cylinder and see if misfire follows injector.

1996 buick century misfire

My 96 century with a 3.1 v-6 gave me fits for years shooting a 171 code(running too lean) I wound up changing the fuel filter and the problem went away. If it's been a while since the filter was changed, try it.

The list is long. Bad spark plug/s, wire/s, distributor cap, camshaft, valve/s, piston/s, gasket/s, vacuum leak, fuel injector/s among other things. Some diagnosis will be needed.

Missing intermittenly, shows problem with #2 cylinder. Could it be the coil and can you purchase separate coils.

Theses coils are separate, but handle 2 cylinders at a time. So in your vehicle you should have 3 coils.Random misfire may be caused by the following: due 4 tune-up, faulty coil, faulty spark plug, faulty plug wire, faulty cam or crank sensor, poor cylinder compression, intake/head gasket leaks. Before replacing parts, make sure that #2 cylinder is diagnosed for the misfire. Otherwise you'll be changing out good parts, and spending more $$$!!

1992 Buick Century misses at all speeds, will occasionally die while at idle, but starts immediately and runs well except for the misfires. New air filter and plugs installed. Thinking plug wires and fuel...

At this point, replacing the plug wires is a great idea, especially if they are worn or over due for replacement, Always start with the basics...then proceed with diagnostics with possible engine management causes.
