If you are just changing the filter, you start with 4 qts and then check it.
Total capacity is about 12 quarts.

check fluid add if low.. if contaminated get fluid and filter changed..

transmission slipping could be low transmission fluid level or need a transmission fluid and filter change.if transmission fluid was real low check for transmission fluid leaks around transmission oil pan gasket or fluid leaks around cooler lines or torque converter shaft seal. if you getting steam inside cab.your heater core is leaking.if transmission fluid level okay and filter been changed could have faulty over drive switch.

It sounds like you have a handle on this but I will ask the dumb question, are you coating the orings with petrolium jelly or trans assembly jelly? As far as the codes go, you might have a bad ECM. That mmany codes all at once seems suspect.

If the underneath of your transmissions and motor are really greasy and dirty. There's probably a leak from a bad gasket. I would suggest changing your trans fluid and filter (gasket comes with filter usually).

change you fluid and filter but when you do add Lucas Transmission Fix its a non-solvent formulas that stops slip, hesitation and rough shifting in worn transmissions and completely eliminates most seal leaks, it work like a charm on my 2001 caviler that had a very simular prolbem , i didnt even change the fluid i just sucked out enofgh fluid to put in the product . this stuff works

If your 2008 Avenger is set up like the Breeze, Cirrus, Stratus, or Sebring that it evolved from (and I don't see why they would change a successful platform), when you are facing the car the engine is on the left and the transmission is on the right (driver's side). The transmission dipstick should be the one between the engine and the transmission near the center of the engine compartment. When you pull the transmission dipstick, it should say something about the type of fluid required, and under what conditions to check the fluid level (usually on a level surface at normal operating temperature while in park). Add fluid if needed, and be VERY careful not to overfill as newer transmissions are very sensitive to fluid levels. Going as little as a couple of ounces over can adversely affect transmission performance and longevity. By the way, I strongly recommend changing your filter and fluid every 24,000 miles to keep from having to replace the transmission at arround 130,000 miles. The Mitsubishi transmission in my Eagle Vision (same as a Dodge Intrepid) disintegrated at around 137,000 miles and cost me $1380 to replace. Regular maintenance by the prior owner would have saved me that expense.

The ignition switch is faulty if the gauges and dash lights will not come on, change the fuses first. Transmission fluid and filter change needed. Differential gear oil change also needed.

Flush out your transmission with the correct type fluid, Mopar ATF+4, and correct filter. Disconnect Negative cable, to reset computer, for at least 24 hours. Check grounding straps for PCM, ensure they are tight and clean.
This method worked on my 2003 Intrepid SE, 3.5L, Police Pkg car.
