Question about 2003 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

I just took my car to a shop to get a tensioner put on cause I'm in the marine corps and dont have time to do it and now the new belt that I bought doesn't sit right on the tensioner pulley. And I can't tell if the harminc balancer has been messed with. Plus there's a sweak coming from the tensioner still. What can I do about the sweak and how far does the harmonic balancer usually sit off the block?

Check for the belt being off on one of the pulleys by one groove.. I seriuosly doubt a Mech Messed with the balancer..

So i took the serpentine belt off my 98 cadillac deville well when i put the new one on its too loose iv'e followed all diagrams what could be causing this

Compare your new belt to the old one. A millimeter or two isn't bad but if there's a noticeable difference, it's probably the wrong belt. Also, make sure your tensioner returns to the full tension side by itself. If it gets stuck or you hear grinding as you release the tension on the tool, you may have a bad tensioner and/or tensioner spring.

Timing belt

Did you install a new bushing with the tensioner? There is a bulletin that talks about brass powder on the old tensioner. If there is, install bushing no#JF01-12-754. It sounds like you put new timing belt tensioner and belt, but without the spacer, it could cause problems.

Car fires but will not start.

You have your timing belt out of time you need to recheck your marks and if your belt is 4 years old or more replace it with a new belt idler and tensioner pulleys

Why has the timing belt jumped again less than 3 weeks after being replaced?

My belt did the same. The problem was, the tension pulley was damaged on the first belt change.
Hope this helps.

Two new batteries, won't hold charge

I would Check the Belt Tensioner. If the Belt Tensioner is Not Holding the Belt Tight Enough it will not allow the Alternator to Charge the Battery and will result in the Dead Batteries. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Maybe a fan problem???

What you may be hearing is the timing belt tensioner rattling back and forth because it can't hold it's tension any more. The tensioner will not loosen the belt tension enough to make the belt jump. I changed one on our Trooper and took me 2 hours and I never had to remove the timing belt.

if it is a misfire, then that means it is probably the plug or the wire, change those first, if not then yes check the injector.
