Question about Toyota Tacoma

Went out and started my 2000 tacoma, looked to dash board and noticed MIL light on. The indicator must detect something going on. Have reqular service every 3000 miles. How do I turn off the light? thanks Barry Billings MT.

    On our 2004 scion, the malfunction indicator lamp has now come on. What could possibly be the root cause of this problem? I have heard possible emmissions components could be at fault. Which ones? PCV valve Oxygen sensor or what? Thanks.

You can remove the EFI fuse but if it is a ongoing problem the light will come back. If it is no an on going problem then the light will stay off. Just turn key off and under your hood on left side there is a fuse box remove the EFI fuse for about 1min then put fuse back. should make light go away unless there is an ongoing problem. this will not fix any problems just make light go away.

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. How to reset engine lite in dash


Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

My Daughter bought a 2004 Dodge stratus It has a P0344 code but runs fine at 2000 rpm or lower above 2000rpm it bucks. Replaced cam Sensor with no success. can not get MIL light to go out. reset codes


Dodge Forum stated something about have the PCM reprogrammed may be in order after replacing/getting this code....said there was a tsb for it..NUMBER: 18-015-09

I own a 2006 tacoma. Fog lights were installed by Toyota when purchased. The fog light indicator light on the dash board no longer lights. I brought it to Toyota and they said the truck doesn't have...


As with many of these questions, a look through the owner's manual is a place to start. I have a Hyundai, and though it does not have fog lights there is a page in the manual showing what the dash
looks like if the car is so equipped and not so eqiupped. Same as on my Subaru, which does have fog lights. The manual shows the dashboard with and without that option. If this was something available as an option, but they put it on after sale then they most likely used the Toyota wiring harness which is ready to go either way, and the pop out plug in the dash for the switch/light so it should be pictured in the manual. If it is a total aftermarket kit then you have nothing to go on unless you take it to the dealer where it was done and ask them to look up their records, it is only 4 years old.

What does code 1-p0650 mean?


P0650 Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Control Circuit Malfunction

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is located on the instrument panel. When the ignition switch is turned ON without engine running, MIL will light up. This is a bulb check. When the engine is started, MIL should go off. If MIL remains on, the on board diagnostic system has detected an engine system malfunction.

Possible Causes:
  • Harness or connectors (MIL circuit is open or shorted.)
  • MIL bulb may be faulty

    Malfunction indicator lamp


    The Malfunction Indicator Lamp or MIL (Also called the check engine light or service engine soon light) comes on when the on board computer detects an issue with the operation of the engine or transmission.

    The best thing to do is to take the vehicle to an auto parts store like Autozone and have them hook up their scan tool to the vehicle and read the code. They can read it, tell you what it is and also tell you what the code means.

    If it is pointing to a faulty component or sensor and you replace or repair the component the the light will go off on its own after the computer sees that the malfunction is no longer present.

    You can have the code cleared, but if whatever caused the light to come on in the first place is not addressed then it will just come back on eventually.
