Question about 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

It feels like my brakes are locking when i turn the wheel

When i turn the wheels on my 99 blazer it feels like the brakes are being applied and the truck begins to jump and slow down what can cause this

My 95 blazer feels like something is not releasing or something is "dragging" in rear end


The greasy one has a seal leaking between the backing plate and the brakes (axle seal) which in turn will cause your brakes to grab on that wheel when you apply the brakes. Remove the axle and replace the seal. Then thoroughly clean the brake shoes and backing plate until they appear bone-dry like the other side. This should solve your problem. Make sure the rear-end grease level is full when you finish.

When applying brakes on 99 Ford Explorer they feel good until just berfore stopping then it feels like a push back on pedal and a bit of chatter like the ABS is coming on. Doesn't feel right. No Problem...


I had the same problem with my 2002 Silverado. The grease seal on the right front wheel bearing went up letting grease build up on sensor . Disconnect ABS sensor wire at wheel one wheel at a time. Abs light on dash will come on but that's ok. drive and stop easy with wire disconnected until brakes feel normal. Then you will know wheel is the problem.

Have you checked the emergency brake ? The cable could be locked up. Slowly apply e brake if it feels loose the cable is locked up. You could also have someone watch the cable near the rear wheel to see if it moves .

Steering wheel locked how to unlock


HI,
is the vehicle on a full steerring lock left or right?
Apply the parking brake, Trans in P / N.
Insert the ign key.
Place one hand on the rim of the steering wheel and "rock" the wheel as you attempt to turn the ign key. You will feel the pressure against the steering wheel, keep "rocking" it and it should unlock as you work the ign lock.

Left front brake locking up. whats wrong with the abs system?


Sounds more like a caliper problem then an abs problem. ABS systems dont lock up your wheels it prevents them from locking up when you apply to much pressure on the brake.

2006 Pacifica emergency brake problem.


The only manual adjustment for the parking brake on these is at the shoes themselves. Procedure for that is as follows:

1) Place parking brake lever in "full released" position.
2) Raise and support vehicle.
3) Remove plug in parking brake shoe support to access adjuster star-wheel.
NOTE: Through the access hole, rotate the adjuster wheel in the following direction to expand the shoes outward against the drum.
Left brake--Rotate star wheel toward rear of vehicle.
Right brake--Rotate star wheel toward front of vehicle.
4)Using an appropriate tool, turn adjuster star wheel until wheel will not rotate (dead lock).
5) Back off adjuster six detents (teeth).
6) Rotate wheel, checking for light drag. If drag is too heavy, continue to back of adjuster one detent at a time until light drag is present. Do not back off star-wheel more than 17 detents from wheel lock.
7) Install access plug.
8) Adjust opposite wheel parking brake shoes using same method.
9) Lower Vehicle.
10) Apply and release parking brake lever once to ensure proper operation of parking brakes.

Im getting a grinding noise from the under side of my 99 ram 1500 4x4.sounds like bad brakes,but they are all new,alongwith new wheel bearings


It could be an axle bearing. Does it only do it when you apply the brakes or does it do it just going down the road. If it does it when applying the brakes then it is in the brakes, check everything and insure that it is correctly install and that they are not hung up wearing out the pads and rotors. If it does it while going down the road and not when brakes are applied the it is probably a wheel bearing or an axle bearing. Jack up the truck and support on stands, turn the wheels and see if you can get it to recreate the noise by turning the wheels.

Shaking in the front end


Have the brake discs checked, as they may need to be machined or replaced.Also have them check the idler arm and tie rod ends.
