2001 Hyundai Sonata Bogs down

Car bogs down when trying to accelerate when driving. While in park i can rev the engine but the engine stumbles and almost dies when it goes over 3k rpms. Check engine light is on and received p421 and p304. I checked the spark plugs wires and they are fine and I also replaced the spark plugs. Not sure what else it could be other than an O2 sensor or catalytic convertor.

I have the exact same problem 99 Sonata GLS V6, idle OK can't go above 3000 and throws cyl 1&4 misfire codes. New plugs, wires, swapped coil packs and oscilloscoped low voltage ign at the computer - compared perfect waveforms. Still NG. I remember 2x before bad crankshaft pos sensors changd at dealer - stupid me should have suspected this again. Will get one tomorrow at dealer! Also if car stalls out intermittently and restarts OK a sensor in front with wires burned by exhaust proximity almost killed me and local paers guy at dealer said not unusual failure! Thanks immnsely tyo all who contribute so unselfishly here! HL in Georgia. Mine is 99 but same applies!

My Son's 01 Sonata displayed the exact same systems and it was his catalytic converter. The metallic sounds were the converter guts disintegrating.

Ditto. My catalytic died from a larger problem. The crank shaft position sensor on the 01 gls sonata has a terrible mount and eventually breaks and causes the engine to mis-fire.. I had 2 cylinders misfiring and the unspent fuel caused the converter to overheat and ultimately fail.
Not only does this limit acceleration, it seriously hinders engine performance in cold weather.

My 2001 monte carlo starts but revs up and bogs down while still scared to drive to auto store

A few different thing's could cause that , IAC - idle air control valve , vacuum leak , engine electronics , (sensor's) Would need to do testing to say for sure ! Know how to do basic engine testing ? Your best bet would be to take it to a qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic tools to find an fix this problem ! Wouldn't trust part's store's , they just want to sell you parts !

Starts missing /large dead stop when accelerating

The missing while accelerating is likely due to ignition coils and/or spark plugs going bad. The missing while in park is a normal thing. The car has a rev limiter that will not allow the engine to rev to higher than 3000 RPM while in park.

Car was runing fine then massive loss of power after comming to complete stop and tryin to accelerate as if was not running on all cylindars or out of gas it bogs but r.p.m.s rev high

You are going to have to inspect for a timing belt, the 1.6, 1.8 has a hydraulic tensioner if it looses its tension you wont run on all cylinder and you will bog down and yet be able to rev high. you will need to change t-belt and the t belt tensioner

2001 Hyundai Sonata GLS, my check engine light came on. Now it revs up, bogs down, or sometimes it doesn't want to start. Why is this happening? I've only had the car for less then a month and have only...

Could be misfire. You need to get a code reader to find out what the trouble codes are. You can then better know what to do next. Spark plugs could be the problem. They are easy to change on the four cylinder, and the V6 is a bit of a chore as the intake plenum needs to be unbolted to change the three rear plugs. Get the codes read! best of luck!
