When I start My 1998 buick regal ls 3.8 it idles rough and stalls most of the time, the rpm's go up and down as soon as I let go of the key. If I step on gas for a few seconds it stays running. Motor

did you clean any carbon from the air intake and air passages around the idle control motor. carbon buildup around fuel injectors or intake manifold can cause this problem also.

I doubt the two problems are related.
The computer uses an idle speed control valve to regulate idle speed. The valve controls the amount of air entering the intake.
You should have a check engine light on and also a stored trouble code for the valve. It could also be a problem with the throttle plate in the throttle body.

Hi all.. My car is recently producing a large amount of black smoke ... And engine (quite shaky) just stop a low speed ( at a red light or so) specially when I turn on the AC. A friend told me that it...

Black smoke is usually excess fuel.
The problem could be faulty fuel injectors or the fuel pressure regulator. Or a restriction in the air intake. Or a faulty O2 sensor.
If you remove the spark plugs you may find the cylinder or cylinders with too much fuel.
If that is the case, you would need to test the injectors and the fuel system.

Starting Problem

I would look at the EGR valve and test whether the diaphram is ruptured. Then if not successful look at any idle speed "motor".

If that is not successful, look at the intake manifold. With the engine running, get a old spray bottle and spray water around the seams of the intake while the engine is running. Any opening will draw in the water and stall the engine or reduce RPM. That is how you find the leak.

The reason your car is idling high is when you open the throttle, more air goes in the engine. If there is an air leak that does not belong there it will raise the idle just like your foot pressing down on the accelerator.

The car is hard to start because the air/fuel mix is flooded with air. You are not getting enough fuel for the volume of air that is entering the engine.

My gmc sonoma keep stalling when i stop runs fine while idleing

One possibility is a faulty idle air control valve.
The computer controls idle speed by adjusting the air coming into the intake around the throttle.

Engine Won't Idle

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Charade Runs rough at low speeds

Couln't hurt to put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through it. If that's the problem you should see improvement in just a few minutes. Could be air intake. If the filter is very old or if it is after market and there is not enough air already filtered when you press the accelerator there is a lag. You need a certain amount of space between the filter and the connection to store air for immediate response. Good luck.
