You need a deep well inpact socket, a breaker bar, elcetric or air gun to spin the nut off. note: you have to take off the brake calipure, then the brake rotor ( you might want to replace your pads while you have this disasembled, check rotors for wear also), spin the nut off with the socket, pull your axle out, should come out easy, you may have to tap it with a wooden or rubber mallet, on the back side of the housing is 3 bolts to remove the axle bearing, this is gonna take some time, you may need a puller, air chisle or hand chisle until bearing starts to come loose. Once loose it will pop out and you can replace it(rmember tap in and out with rubber or wooden mallet so you dont bend or break bearing, axle or other components that have to reassembled.

Warn hubs, installation

Warn Hubs Installation
A truck or SUV with a four-wheel drive suspension uses locking hubs on the front wheels to engage or disengage the front axle shafts from the hubs. This way, you can drive the truck normally with just rear-wheel drive, or engage four-wheel drive mode when you want to drive off-road. These hubs can wear out, and one improvement is to install a set of Warn hubs. Installing a set of Warn hubs takes about an hour.
1.Park the truck and put on the parking brake. Lift the front of the truck with the jack and put the jack stands under the front axle. Take off the front wheels with the tire iron and put them to the side.
2.Disengage the locking hubs using your hands by turning the knob on the hubs. Remove the snap rings holding the hub locks in place with the snap-ring pliers. Pull the hub off the axle.
3.Install the lock ring wheel from the Warn hub kit in the axle with the factory snap ring and the snap-ring pliers.
4.Make sure the Warn locking cap dial is turned to the "Free' position. Install the locking cap onto the lock ring wheel and hub body with a hex-head key. Reinstall the front wheels with the tire iron and lower the vehicle off the jack stands with the jack.

ABS light won't go off recently had both front wheel bearings replaced on a 1999 gmc jimmy - the ABS light came on immediately during a test run, i told the mechanic about it and i was told it would...

There are ABS wheel speed sensors on the front wheels behind the hubs. It is possible if the hub where replaced either the pick up ring mounted to the hub itself was not installed or might have purchase non abs hubs or they just did not switch the wheel speed pickup ring on the new hub. Another thing could be either the wheel speed sensors are mis adjusted or when they replaced the hubs they hung the spindle by the abs wire and either pulled it out of socket or messed up the wires internally. Here is a basic abs system http://www.ehow.com/how_8511860_diagnose-abs-brakes.html if you have any other questions please let me know. Also please leave good feedback.

The abs light is always on while driving and the right tyres vibrate on speed

There is a good chance that the right wheel hub has gone bad and needs to be replaced. The ABS sensor is apart of the wheel hub, there is a speed ring on the wheel hub for the ABS sensor to read which will activate the ABS when wheel lock up is detected. When the wheel hub is damaged or worn, the speed ring is no longer lined up with the sensor and will need to be replaced. A bad wheel hub can also cause the wheel to come off if the bearing inside fail and seize causing it to explode.

Good luck and have your wheel hub replaced soon as possible and try not to drive it on night way speeds till your repalce the wheel hub. Thank you for using Fixya.

Wheel noise or roar in front end with increased road speed

THIS NOISE IS USUALLY THE HUB. HAVE SOMEONE GO WITH YOU ON A TEST DRIVE. GET THE ROARING TO HAPPEN AT ITS LOUDEST AND GENTLY SWERVE THE CAR LEFT AND RIGHT. DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU THINK BOTH HUBS ARE BAD. LIFT THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND PUT IT ON JACK STANDS. PULL OUTWARD ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TIRE WHILE PUSHING INWARD ON THE TOP OF THE WHEEL. IF THE WHEEL MOVES EXCESSIVELY YOU FOUND THE HUB THAT IS NOISY. USING A MECHANICS STETHOSCOPE YOU CAN SOMETIMES HEAR A ROARING TYPE NOISE ON THE BACKING PLATE SIDE OF THE HUB WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THE TRANS IN GEAR. TRY NOT TO GET THE SPEED UP TOO FAR ESPECIALLY IF YOU CAN HEAR THE NOISE AT LOW SPEED, YOU DON'T WANT TO VIBRATE OFF THE STANDS.

How do i replace front wheel bearing hub assembly front wheels pop and don,t engage when trying to put it in four wheel drive

First, you have to take the rotor off. To get the rotor off you need a special tool (a hub wrench - a socket with four little prongs). Take off the clip on the the hub and then the washers (3). Use the hub wrench to remove the 2 rings. Pull off the rotor. Take the outer bearing out of the rotor. To get the inner bearing out you have to take the seal off. You can usually pry the seal off with a screwdriver. Once the seal is off, you can pull the inner ring out. Reverse procedure to put back on. Remember to put bearing grease on the hub and new bearings.
