Poor gas mileage

I have replaced amm, fuel pressure reg, o2 sensor, flame tap and am still getting poor gas mileage. brought car in for diagnosis and got 1-1-3 error code after replacing idle control which was read first. Is it possible ECU is malfunctioning for car runs fine for a few minutes ? Any suggestions much appreciated

to find faults I suggest that you run the fault codes . The code/s will pin point the faulty sensors, solenoids and valves. replace as recommended

Odd O2 sensor readings and poor gas mileage

You don't have any time information in your question... that is important and you really need to add that.
Newer emission controls systems, unlike older ones, need to be driven for a while (called the Drive Cycle), sometimes as long as three days-worth of start-stop trips, to reset all the system readings. Yours is one of those. For a good discussion of the system, see Post #5 and later at http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=62408
and see how complex it can be.

If you have disconnected the battery, the system goes into a "limp mode" (like someone with a hurt leg) or failsafe mode until about the same length of time, and will show poor mileage, poor performance, and no readings can be depended on until the system re-stabilizes.
Compression and fuel pressure sounds absolutely normal.
A loose gas cap can't cause an O2 sensor to fail, but it can cause a false reading because it causes an emissions system error.
Once a new cap is on, it can take days for the system to return to normal.
You did not mention the normal stuff, like a new air cleaner. That stuff is more likely to cause rich running and poor mileage.

P0131 sabb 93 2001 po121 error codes

P0131 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 (sensor is before the catalytic converter)

Possible causes- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks
P0132 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1
Possible causes- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks

I am not really sure what is going on here with the same O2 sensor giving these lean and rich codes, if nothing else is apparent and the engine runs well you may have a defective O2 sensor.

Poor fuel economy, 8 mpg

If the fuel pressure regulator vacuum lines smell of gas the I would suspect that and replace it. If the MAF sensor or O2 sensors are faulty then that would change the air-fuel ratios and give you poor mileage.

P2237 P2196 P2271 P0030 P0171

These are all O2 sensor trouble codes, except P0171 which is a fuel trim code,

You have a bad 02 sensor - up stream - Bank 1 Sensor 1.

Replace it, then road test. The engine computer has a 'default' fuel trim it uses when an O2 sensor fails so it can protect the catalytic converter. If this hasn't been going on too long, good chance simply replacing the O2 sensor will remedy your problem.

Hi,
This is a broad spectrum of possibilities. I would first start with a simple approach of insuring good gas.
When these symptoms occur, get a bottle of fuel additive and add to your tank. Possibly you have some condensation issues. This could be just the ticket... I hope so. Good luck.
