Question about 1983 Chevrolet Silverado
Water pump went out, replaced it, and now we keep throwing the alt. belt truck is a 1985 chevy silverado 350sb
If the alternator is on the same belt as the water pump, I'd suspect that the water pump pulley is not in line with the alternator and crankshaft. Stand to the side and look at all the pulleys on that belt. They should all be in the same plane, and the belt should look like a straight line over all the pulleys. If not, check with where you got the water pump to see if there are different pulleys, depending on application.
