Question about 2002 Audi A6
2002 Audi Allroad 2.5 Tdi - 76 000km - full service history. Stopped at traffic light - engine suddenly 'shuddered' twice - almost as though it had skipped a beat - and then refused to move forward when I accelerated. No warning lights. Rolled to a stop and was towed to Audi dealership. Oddly enough the car worked in reverse gear! The Audi dealership said they could find nothing wrong with the car and that they had run all their diagnostics. The car happened to be on Second suspension Level (which I rarely apply) when the incident occurred. Since it has come back from the garage last week, I notice that the suspension lift is sometimes activated upon starting and I have to wait for the suspension to return to normal cruising level before proceeding. I have also noticed an alarming amount of smoke (not the normal diesel discharge) upon starting the car in the morning - usually after I have had to 'restore' the suspension settings after they've inadvertently been activated. The day the car broke down I had filled the tank with diesel that morning. Any ideas as I am nervous to drive the car in case it happens again?
I had the brake light switch replaced by a local dealer. Cost was $140 and it fixed the problem. Have driven the car for two weeks since and no lights and all systems normal.
