Check fuel pump pressure, it should be--(key on engine off) 52 to 59 psi.for 3.1 v6.

a bad coolant tempurature sensor will cause it to run rich, run rough at idle, and produce black smoke, engine may stall out. check engine light does not always come on, that depends on the severity of the problem.

remove maf sensor, get some maf spray at a auto parts store. follow directions on can. make sure air cleaner is not dirty, this should help, just did mine.

a bad map sensor causes: a rich or lean fuel mixture, excessive fuel consumption, rough idle, hesitation. also check air cleaner, plugs and plug wires to rule these things out. good luck!!

I was having the same problem and now it is ok!! first make sure air cleaner is ok, then go to any auto parts place and buy a can of maf sensor spray and follow directions carefully to not touch inside of sensor.this should help. if not change intake air temp sensor. it is just after air filter and it is a reasonal price. good luck CARL you can also clean out throttle plate with a old tooth brush and carb cleaner, clean sides off throttle plate very good. this should help.

make sure airfilter is clean, next go to any auto parts store and buy a can of maf sensor spray to clean the sensor, follow directions carefully on can. the iat sensor is poor idle when cold, stumble on cold takeoff, and surging when engine is warm. mine did the same thing and I changed the intake air sensor, cleaned maff sensor, and now it runs like new. no stumbles anymore. some sensors will not trigger a check engine light. if all fails have car scanned for problems. go to any auto parts place and they will scan your car for free.

well all can say is that a bad cam sensor will cause vehicle to stall at warm up and go into limp mode. but this should set a check engine code!! check the cam sensor, codes do not allways popup. this procedture pertains to a 3.1 and 2.4 models. 2.2 do not have a cam sensor. on 2.4 models it is on top of engine in front of the valve cover. on 3.1 it is in back of engine on passenger side not to far from belt area, it is about 2 feet down from top.

try removing maf sensor and cleaning it with electrical cleaner or maf sensor cleaner. you can buy the cleaner ar any auto parts store.also make sure airfilter is clean and intake air tempurature sensor is fine! you can clean this sensor also just to be safe. the iat sensor is in hose fron air cleaner to throttle body. make sure all is clean and free of dirt and debris in air intake hose. if dirty it will send maf sensor a wrong reading and therefore will result in power loss. if you need more help. just let me know.

Tractor has been stood, had new head gasket but smokes white smoke and loses power when warm. What is wrong with it.. Any ideas..

Run a radiator pressure test or test for carbon monoxide vapor in the radiator. You have a cracked head or block if the head gasket was installed correctly. Note the installation would include measuring the block and head for warp.

How difficult is it to diagnose a power steering leak on a 2000 Chevy malibu

I think you identified that you have a leak. The way to isolate where from is to fill it up and put a fresh piece of cardboard on the ground under it and look for the drip spot. If you are losing that much though it should be evident but start at the pump connections and work out.

When the weather is very cold (below zero) the car will not even try to turn over it wil only click at the starter and ignition no turn battery is fine never does this any other time. only cold, but once...

It is normal for batteries to lose a good deal of their power due to cold temperatures. If you want better starting power, try using a battery charger/maintainer overnight. It should charge at no more than 2 amps. The slow trickle charging overnight will charge and warm up the battery and allow it to develop full power for a cold morning start.
