Question about 1991 Plymouth Acclaim
Car will just stop, happens mostly in warm, humid weather. Engine getting fire but will not start until it sits for awhile. Ruled out fuel pump, not battery or ignition problem. Noticed others having this same problem on other forums. Is this an electrical/computer related disfunction?
One of the more common problems with the 2.5L & 2.2L engines that suffered the symptoms your describing, such as, starts & runs good, then at any given time would just quit, not start, but after sitting a while, or by the time the mechanic gets to it, it starts right up, or you sit on the side of the road for 20 min. or half hour then away it goes for a while longer, then quits again down the road. There is a pick-up plate under the distributor cap & rotor, with the wiring plug coming from it. 90% of the time, it's defective, and cuts out especially, but not limited to, more often when weather is hot.
