Re: Remote key will not lock doors
There is a alarm mechanism inside the drivers door that has fallin off if you go the the passenger door and unlock it first the alarm will be disabled. what you would have to do is take the drivers side door panel off and look at the lock mechanism there should be a triangle shaft comeing out the back of it and there should be a black peice attached to a wire dangling in the door that needs to be glued back on but make sure to no glue the part of the peice that needs to rotate then test to see if it works before installing the door panel back on.

Climb into your Jeep Grand Cherokee with your keyless remote(s) in hand and your manual ignition key. Do not close the driver's door.
Hit the "Lock" switch on your driver's side door and insert the key into the ignition.
Turn the key to the "Run" position and aim the keyless remote at the steering wheel. Press and hold the "Lock" button for five seconds.
Wait for the locks to respond by cycling then program each successive remote (up to four total) by holding the lock until the locks respond. Each remote must be programmed within 20 seconds of the last.
Turn the key in the ignition back to the "Off" position then quickly back to the "Run" position within 20 seconds of programming your last remote.
Turn the car off and remove the key from the ignition to complete the programming sequence.
A plastic clip that holds the lock linkage is probably broke or worn. You need to pull of the inner door panel to see whats going on inside. Use the remote and see whats happening. It could be bent rod in door from someone using a slim jim to unlock it when they locked the keys in it at some point. Bend the rod and try the remote again untill it works properly.

lock with key, electric door lock button,or remote and alarm will set. to disarm you have to use the key or remote to open it.the reason it woulnt disarm from drivers door is either the door lock cylinder switch is broken or the wire to it in the rubber boot that connects the door and the body is broken.

first check remote key battery possibly faulty battery, replace battery and check, when you operate remote aim it to the rear wive mirror not to the door lock, if not work after replace battery on key only option you have to drive your car to Mercedes workshop who have the right diagnose CPU for this particular model, if you plug any other diagnose CPU or tester you can't check this advance center locking system properly if you once fixed Mercedes diagnose tool in to the your car within short time period you can find what's wrong in your car it's easy fro experienced technician to do that, however before go to the workshop once again check all the fuses if any fuse blown replace it. is this information helped you?
you need to take it to the dealer and have them check the bcm for codes.... also have them check to be sure you have the latest software in the bcm.. its possible that you just need a software update... there are several TSB's covering the concern you have..... it can be a very simple fix with software or even a stuck lock switch may need to be replaced... without the proper diagnostic codes being read from the bcm all that can be done is guessing..and that can be expensive...
get into the truck and close and lock the door. place the key in and out of the ignition cylinder about six times(not too fast or slow) until you see the hazzard lights flash twice. then turn the key to the acc. position and then press the lock button on the remote(if lock doesn't work you can push another button on the remote). if the hazzard lights flash it is now programmed. then turn the key to off and pull it out and then unlock the door and open and close it. now test the remote.
