95 Jeep spitting and sputtering

My 95 Jeep Cherokee is spitting and sputtering. It's ok at idol, and if I step on the gas it goes ( with a little back fireing ). When giving it just a little bit of gas, it realy starts bucking. I've changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter and air filter. I've also added water remover and fuel injection cleaner in the gas tank. It also seems to be getting worse the more I drive it. Now there seems to be a noise up front (air leak, back fire).

When the "spits and sputters" happen are you in low rpm? Can you "by-pass" the sputtering by accelerating? Has your gas mileage suffered?

1995 Jeep grand cherokee is missing while running. When it is under a heavy load (driving fast) it runs fine. When idleing and slow driving it spits and sputters.

I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?

Thanks,

95 jgc laredo spitting and sputtering , will not idle dies

You may want to check the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). It is located on the back of the throttle body and very easy to change. You may have some luck just cleaning to see if it makes a difference and then you can buy a new one.
