How to remove rotors on 97 dodge 2500 4x4

I was wanting to do a brake job on my 1997 Dodge 2500 4x4 (8,800) gross weight truck. I havent been able to find a socket large enough to remove the nut on the end of the axle. Also I dont know the process of what needs to come off in what order. There are four bolts on the back side of the hub/rotor do these have to come off in order to get the rotor off ??? Thanks

Sounds like the rotor is stuck on the hub. Try beating it with a hammer you dont have to take the 4 bolts off they remove the wheel bearing. Axle doesn't have to be touched as well. After you remove the caliper and bracket the rotor should fall off.

Mopr is wrong the four bolts he has obviously never done this before. this is a huge pain in the ****. , remove the castle nut and the four bolts on the back side and you will have to drive off the wheel studs to get the bearing/hub assembly off of the rotor. good luck youll need it .

I have a 1997 dodge 4x4 2500 it seems as if the rear brakes dont work, causing the all new front to wear really fast. Can the load contol be bypasses ?

you must be joking, right.bypass the load control and your wheels will lock up for a pastime.front pads last approx 25k/rotors about 40k(normal loads)try it with a FULL load, weight wise.

there is a parkingbrake inside the hub of the rotor try hitting the hub with a hammer as hard as you can swing a couple of times without hitting the wheelstuds there may also be clips on at least 2 studs if the rotors havent been off remove these clips dont worry if you break them you wont need them the rotor should come off

Front disc brake pads on a 1997 dodge intrepid.

The Calipers on the Rotor that Hold the Brake Pads have Bolts on the Back Side at the Top and Bottom for Mounting. Just feel around back there and you will find them. Remove these and the Caliper will come right Off. Let me Know if you need more Help! Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
