I'm not sure where the fluid is coming from, the pump is under the resivor however the fluid is coming out from under neath the car.more like in the middle a little behind the tires. It does't look like it's coming from the pump but it's making a really loud sound and i can't keep fluid in it. So could it be leaking from the pressure hose?

Re: power steering fluid leak (1999 grand am gt)
Sounds like a high pressure hose or rack and pinion would have to get underneath and take a good look at it while someone starts it and turns the whell all the way to tyhe left or right and hold it there till you see the leak

Does the power steering pump make noise, it is probbably low on fluid or faulty pump the first thing I would check is the fluid. I am not sure which engine it is but if its the one I think it is the resivor is hard to get to located on the passenger side behind the engine next to the fire wall. If it is low check for leaks. The pump could also have a bad valve. The other possible cause could be the rack and pinion but that is usally a less common problem.
if you replacing only lines for power steering you dont have to take out the belt but on other side of linens are very hard to disconnect from the rack and pinion...
you have to lift and secure the front disconnect the lines from pump and fallow he lines and keep disconect the holders from the body when you rich the end you are right under the driver seat you will see the very little open space and you see the bolt that connects linen to rack and pinion you will need long wrench take it out..just take your time ..when placing the new line just make sure it seats good on place and you gonna need the bleed power steering system after changing the lines...
so finally this job is really hard to do if you don't have experience i recommended to you just bring somebody know what he's doing for save time and not to do some job double time.Power steering system is closed system air or heavy leaks can damage your expensive power steering pump and rack and pinion.
power steering will make a buzz nosie and it will get worse when the steering wheel is turned. It usually is just low n power steering fluid. Check that first. The other is a belt squeal noise, worse when turning, which usually just requires tightening unless it's self tensioning syste. Or replace the belt. Need a better description of the nosie and results of fluid level check. Report back on findings.

BETWEEN THERESERVIOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY THERE IS A O RING IT MAY BE MISSING OR CUT WHEN THIS PROBLEM IS CORRECTED (MAKE SURE PLASTIC RESIVOR(SP) IS NOT CRACKED) IF NO MORE LEAKS MAKE SURE IT IS FULL OF FLUID, RAISE FRONT WHEELS OFF GROUND KEY ON ENGINE OFF TURN STEERING WHEEL LOCK TO LOCK 50 TIMES. THIS FROM A CADILLAC SERVICE BULLETIN THIS WILL REMOVE AIR FROM THE SYSTEM
