2000 chevy cavalier ABS and Brake lights staying on

I have a 2000 chevy cavalier 2dr coupe. My ABS and BRAKE lights are staying on. They have been staying on for some time now. I had new brakes and brake pads put on it. I took it and had it scanned for problems but still not able to get it fixed. Any suggestions on what may be wrong and how I can fix it.

The scan picked up codes but each time it was scanned it gave different codes. It kinda sent us in circles. The brake fluid is fine. The lights have been on since I have had the car. The company I bought the car are the ones that run the scan on it. Thanks for staying with me on this. Oh the ABS system as well as the brakes work just fine.

I am sorry but it has been a few months since I got it scanned so I don't remember any of the codes.

You had it scanned? They didn't find any codes? If there were no codes, did the ABS computer even communicate? Also did you check the brake fluid, most newer cars have a float switch in the master. If the fluid is low that will set off the lights.

Can you give me any of the codes?

The only thing I can suggest without codes is to check the front wheel speed sensor wires. This is common with these. Right near the ball-joint on both front wheels, the wires move every time you turn the wheels. After time the wires break and get bad connections. Check the wires near both front lower ball-joints. If they are broke, you can buy new plug-ins and splice them back together.

The amber ABS warning light is telling you that there is a problem with the ABS system. When the antilock brakes don't work you just have good old fashion non antilock brakes. When the red brake warning light is on it could be a couple of things. (unless you are talking about the brake light on the back of the car is stuck on) the red brake warning light on the dash tells you when the parking brake is on and it also tells you when there is a problem with the hydraulic system. Some cars will also turn this light on when the brake fluid is low, (not sure if the Cavalier does this)

The ABS system is computer controlled and needs to be scanned for trouble codes to diagnose the problem.

I can't say I have ever heard of a "brights" indicator flashing, Do the headlights go bright and dim as it is flashing? Is it a slow on and off like a turn signal or faster than that?

Abs light and the brake light come on when starting the car and never turn off. Mecanic says the brakes are fine. What could be the problem?

The abs system does a self check every time you start your vehicle. If something fails during the self check the ABS light will stay on and the brake light will turn on as well. Have the ABS scanned to find out what trouble code is stored. The usual cause for this to happen is a bad wheel speed sensor. If the stored code is for a speed sensor it will tell you which wheel to look at.

96 Chevy Cavalier brake pedal to the floor

First check your brake fluid.
Either you have a failing brake booster, or you have developed a leak in one of your brake lines. If your brake line is leaking, it should be pretty evident, i.e. oily looking substance sprayed underneath the vehicle or in the wheel wells, if the booster is leaking (the large black/silver almost bowl shaped thing directly in front of the driver under the hood against the back wall) there will most likely be fluid dripping down the firewall below it, if your brake fluid is extremely low/empty, you probably have a leak, that could be at the booster or on a line, or even at the caliper/drum. If it is empty (which can make your ABS light, light up) then you have yourself a leak. Also, if the fluid is really low, you could try adding some, although you will have air in the lines if it was low enough to floor the brake, but you might be able to find the leak if you refill the fluid and cause it to spray from the leak again. Have someone watch under the vehicle while you do this.

I have 1999 chevy cavalier. My ABS light is oh.

Drive it. Then have the rear abs brake sensors checked because they seem to be the first to go in a system like that. Someone with a scan tool should be able to read out any trouble codes in the abs system

It sound like ABS break sensor is out. most likely would be in the rear sensors or simply you need break pads.

2000 chevy lunima rear brake line blew replaced brake line and bleed but anti-brake lite stays on

Chevys are bare to blead, especially if it has ABS. Chevy dealers actually use TECH 2 / their computer to blead ABS systems properly. With it, they open the ports in ABS module, which helps the brake fluid flow. Unless of course you have ripped the sensor wire for ABS by accident.
