When you replaced the computer did u order it new for your truck or did you just get a new one? you may have to do several relearn processes using a scan tool or related tool to get the computer to recognise your key. all gm passlock equipped vehicles have a specific key. even if it looks like a normal key your passlock system measures the resistance of your key and will not let the vehicle start with the "wrong key" for the system. even if it is the same key you have always had you did replace your computer.

You have checked spark? These engines won't even try to fire unless they have at least 55 psi fuel pressure.

My 1999 gmc v-6 has spark, in proper order, compression and fuel but will not start.

Can you start it with starting fluid instead of fuel from the injectors ?
Any trouble codes in the engine computer ?

I have an 2001 GMC sonoma that will not start. The engine is getting gas, fire, air, and the compression is fine. The timing mark on crank lines up. What could be the problem.

you may want to check to see if this engine has a crankshaft position sensor, that tells the computer when to fire the distributor to the right wire. It might be the ecm itself. The best way to see if it is getting fire is to use a test light and while someone cranks the engine check the number one plug wire for fire. If there is no fire to the wire it can be a faulty ignition module in the distributor , ecm, crankshaft position sensor, bad wire bad cap bad coil. Go through process of ilimination

Put new steering coloum in 01 sonoma ,now it won't start'it fires for second then just cranks

If you look at the dash you'll see the security light flashing, the new column contains a part that must be programed to the existing engine computer. Turn key on leave on for 10 min, turn key off, turn key on leave 10 min. Do this for a total of 3 times or 30 mins, and it will accept the new parts.

Installed new fuel pump on 1995 gmc sonoma, still won't crank. Will turn over but not crank. Put on new alternator also.

Check the fuel pump relay.
Check the fuel pump auto shutoff switch, push RED reset button.

sounds like it could be plugged injectors or a timing problem.
