Hello Lia, you did all the right things to fix it but there is some thing elise going on ,if your sure that ,thermostat is not in back wards and its not defective (they do get stuck )and fans are running on time the only thing left is the start of a head gasket ,eaven thoe coolant is clear and no coolant in oil, .did you purge all air out of motor, (no joke) you'll see 2 air purge valves on top of motor ,they look like brake bleeder valves, one on right side and one on left side traped air will cause over heating as well.
I really hope this helped you in some way .

2000 Nissan Frontier 3.3L VG33E engine. Drove it to the store and when i came out it would not start. I determined the timing belt stripped at the crank gear. I replaced the belt. I am pretty certain that...

Nissan markets its D22 and D40 pickup trucks in North America as the Frontier. A six-cylinder 3.3-liter engine with a double overhead camshaft is standard for the D22 models. The timing belt for this engine keeps the camshafts synchronized with the camshaft, enabling the engine to run smoothly. The timing belt has a limited lifetime, and typically requires replacement after 60,000 miles.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'02 626 overheated earlier in the week. drove home. appeared to be out of coolant. replaced overflow tank(seal blown), added coolant, however it still overheats. what else to check?

Whenever you overheat once, then the thermostat must also be replaced. It is operated by the expansion of a contained wax pellet, and overheating causes permanent loss of wax.
However, you may also have caused a head gasket leak now from heat warpage. If the thermostat does not help, then borrow a cooling system pressure checker from a place like Autozone, and see of it holds pressure for 5 minutes after pumping it slightly above cap rating. Then start engine and see if it is steady or oscillating from 1 cylinder leakage.

Where is the thermostat located in a 2000 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab pick up? Is it at upper radiator hose at the engine end?

You are correct the upper radiator hose leads to the thermstat housing. The thermostat housing should be retained by only 2 bolts.

I've had problems with Datsun (later Nissan) engines hanging the closed thermostat until it boiled, then the thermostat released and operated normally. If you increase the small vent hole in the thermostat valve plate a small amount, the problem disappears. It seems that steam from engine operation gathers behind the thermostat sensing bulb and delays opening. The increase in vent hole size lets the steam through and allows the hot water to open the valve. Hope this helps!

How do I change the thermostat on a 6 cylinder nissan frontier truck

Hello Wayne...the thermostat on your truck is located on the engine under the thermostat houseing. It is positioned in a fairly tight place. It can be replace with regular hand tools, ratchet extension, swivel socket and wrench. Follow the radiator hose to the thermostat houseing to locate. I suggest you replace it with a Nissan thermostat, they seem to last longer than an aftermarket, and come with a new houseing. Enclosed is a picture of the houseing you will be removing.
Make CERTAIN you install the new thermostat in the correct position...if installed backwards it will NEVER open and your engine will overheat in minutes possibly causeing severe damage.
Good luck..i hope this helps, please take time to rate me a fixya.

2000 NISSAN FRONTIER SOMETIMES OVERHATING

no salga color blanco.
5-Si el color es blanco entonces tienes problemas con una de
las culatas.
