Power windows work when they feel like it

I asked why my 1999 ford explorer power windows and windshield wipers work when they want to and was told it was a multifunction switch probably needs replced. the multifunction switch has nothing to do with getting the power windows to work so what is the solution for that?

It could be the switch, power has to travel though the switch to the window. It could also be a broke wire between the door and body. An easy way to check if it is getting bad is to hold the switch and open and close the door, if you find a spot where the door is opening and the window stops working and when you move the door again it starts working again. Then it is probably the wires. Hope this helps.

Wind shield wipers not working

First check the fuse box under the hood for a blown or poorly connected fuse. Next, find the wires going to the wiper switch and check for power when you turn the switch on. Finally, if there is power everywhere you checked, go directly to the motor and check it for getting power. Also check the ground wires for this device. If no ground...no action!

Sounds like a multifunction switch has gone bad. Just a coincidence with the stereo most likely.
