Question about 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan
I HAVE A 2001 CARAVAN AND THE POWER STEERING SOUNDS LIKE AN AIRPLANE WHEN I START IT IN THE MORNING. THE COLDER IT IS THE LONGER AND LOUDER IT LAST. I HAVE HAD THE PUMP REPLACED DID NOTHING. ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER???
Did you replacer the power steering resevoir, and have an external cooler? That is where I would start. If that doesn't work, get some Lucas P/S additive.

Have had the same problem since vehicle was 6 months old. There is a tech service sheet that tells the technician to install a copper coil to the steering system. That helped a little. After 12-15 visits to dealer there was no work done. They kept denying there was any wrong and it is common for this model to make that noise. One technician finally told me that repairs would be very expensive and they would not want to do them under warranty. He also said that he would deny saying any of this. I finally had to have the entire rack and pinion system and pump replaced. That solved the problem. I should have sued for the cost of repair, but thankfully I had extended coverage through Geico so it was only $400 total. Hope this helps. No matter what they tell you, there is comething they can do.
