It really depends on the type of driving you do most of. Highway miles very little wear, mostly city driving alot of wear.
Rule of thumb is usually front around 30,000 and rear around 50,000.

When i start my 2005 Ford Ranger 4.0L 4wd It will not go from Park to Drive with the key in & on and your foot on the brake. what ever makes it release to move the shifter is not working... any Idea on...

Only 2 things could be wrong. The brake light switch mounted by the brake pedal arm or the shifter solenoid. Column shifter solenoids you can buy. But console shifters, you have to buy the entire shifter to get the solenoid.

If the brakes work but you have to push very hard, try checking the vacuum supply to the brake booster with the engine running.

Chances are the master cylinder has a small lead around the seal that is letting are in when the truck is idle. I would replace the master and slave cylinders to be safe.

Brakes seized on ford ranger

A drum brake shoe lining may have become separated from the metal pad that holds it in place and will cause the wheel to lock. The only repair necessary is to replace the brake linings with new ones. The loose piece of brake lining, if this is the cause, will not likely cause any difficulty removing the drum.

Brakes on a 2005 rangers pads and rotors changed 10 months ago. brakes stop car but after the stop the brake pedal gets spongy and depresses further and makes a noise

You more than likely have a master cylinder going out. Also check the backs of your wheels (front and back) for fluid indicating a leaky cyclinder.

E-brake in 93 Ford Ranger doesn't work

The cables are probably stretched if you use it on a regular basis or seized if you are like me and never use it. Crawl under the truck on the driver's side, about 1/2 way to the back and find a steel cable running to the back wheels. Follow it down until it hooks up to 2 cables. Pull on the main cable by hand and watch to see if the other 2 move when you do that. Give it a good yank. If the 2 cables don't move they are seized and need to be replaced. If they move then the main cable is stretched. You can replace it or you can buy a tightener at the auto parts store. It's commonly refered to as a Chevy e-brake cable tightener. It just hooks on the cable and shortens it by tightening a nut on the J hook. You can use more than one if you need it. This would be easier and cheaper than replacing for now. Hope this helps.
