Question about Lexus RX 300

1 Answer

I purchased a Lexus RX 300 2003 and the vents in the dash work fine but the defrost and floor vents do not work at all. What could this be? Thanks

I have a 1975 k5 blazer and it blows cold air it worked fine last year but now it only blows cold air even on the defrost setting what can the problem be and how can I fix it?

A vent flap actuator probably needs to be replaced. It's what moves your vent flaps from heat to A/C or to plain "vent air" when you change settings.

The discussion in the link includes vent flap actuators. Unfortunately, they also include the infamous no low speed fan problem too.

Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

Your particular actuator will be a different one than they found.
They're all a absolute pain to get at because they can be well buried in the dash. I would start looking under the dash on the passenger side, that's where most of the air control is. Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

there will be a air flow setting knob that controls whether air is defrost or on feet or from the console vents.

A/C blows out of the defroster vents only, not the dash vents. I haven't checked yet but I suspect that it may be a vacuum hose leaking or loose. Does this sound feasible?

It is either the vacuum hose form control to accumulator or accumlator itself. The vacuum controlled acumulator controls the flap that directs the air flow. The flap may also be stuck

Dash vents will not blow air. Defroster and floor vents blow fine.

Is it a new vehicle? I had a new vehicle that had the same problem. Answer was that the holes weren't punched out of the vent.

Yes it is cable operated and something is probably disconnected. Remove your glove box so you can get a better look at whats going on.

No dashboard heat output

The climate control was poorly designed on these cars.

There is only heat on the floor and defrost settings, due to the layout of the ductwork.
