Cant put serpintine belt on

You don't take anything off

You just put a long 1/2" ratchet in the hole on
the tensioner & Pull against the spring tension until
you have the belt over the final pulley

2003 x type jag trying to change serpintine belt.do you loosen tensioner pulley with a tool or loosen nut at the bottom of pulley with wrench.

Dont loosen the bolt at the bottom. The tensioner is spring loaded and could fly out at you. You need to use a tool to release the tension on the belt by moving the tensioner arm. You can then remove the belt and use the same procedure to put the new one on.

Cant get serpintine belt back on altenator

Friend,
The serpentine belt does not have to be above the pulley. It could very well be below it. So, try setting it below the alternator. Also if the problem is only of setting it then you have to loosen the bolt on the alternator and then tighten it again after adjusting the belt over or under the pulley. The tension adjustment bolt is always there on the alternator.

How do you put on a serpintine belt

I replaced mine, wasn't too tough. You just have to get a wrench on the loosening pulley. Once you loosen it just work the belt off. get the new one almost all the way on then push on the loosening pulley and slide it the rest of the way on. (Loosening pull is the pulley below the alternator. I used the proper size wrench and put a long pipe on the end for leverage.
